Mopeds drivers should require a special "moped license". There should have to pass a written and driving test for a moped. They should learn the rules of the road, just like anyone else who drives a car on the road, should do.

Yes, I have a problem with mopeds who lead a long line of traffic going under the speed limit...especially when there is a shoulder on the road ...like the 52 bypass hill.

Noone deserves to get hit...ERIC. And it sounds like you might have some issues that should be addressed by a mental professional. There are people who can help and usually the first three sessions are free under your employer's insurance.

The law is going to pass and if you're a responsible moped driver, then there should be no problem, right? There are a lot of people driving cars that should not be driving. There are way to many wrecks happening and we all need to be cautious - because whether the "driver deserves it or not"...most of the time there are innocent passengers (and yes, children too) and innocent people caught up in wrecks. Your irresponsible actions can cause something very tragic..whether you're in a car or riding a moped...whether you're a loser or a winner...whether you're drunk or sober.

People like ERIC are all talk until something like this affects them personally. And one question...where on 9th street is the speed limit 45 mph?

Mopeds are like Bikes. They are everywhere and it seems that are in involved in more accidents than cars. What is the solution? I myself do not know, but I wish they had their own roads to drive on, because it is so annoying when they are on the road and in front of you. I know they will never have their own roads to drive on, but it would be so nice) They cannot go the posted speed limit and that is whay so many people get angry. That is no excuse to hit them though. What angers me the most is when kids are on them. They have no business being in traffic like that. Thats like putting a 3yr old in traffic and see how long it takes before they are hit and injured. It is an accident waiting to happen. I wonder if insurance companies have to cover them when they are on a busy highway? Just curious. I would never allow my kids to have a moped just because they are so dangerous and they do not belong on the roads. We all need to be mroe careful and watch out for mopeds and bikes. It could be your friend or even your own family member that gets hurt next. Enough with all the negative comments.

Well, when gas prices hit 7 dollars a gallon, we will see how well everyone likes to jump thru hoops to be able to ride a motorized bicycle, its about money, not safety, if it was safety, the focus would be on cars and trucks speeding, drinking and driving, running stoplites, following to close and ignoring pedestrians and bicyclists..........4000 lbs. vs. 200 lbs. whih causes more danger? Trucks killing kids on motorcycles.......what is the priority here?

I agree, money.

Make the roads wider and there will be room for everyone.

Kids shouldn't be on mopeds? Why? If they understand the rules of the road then they should be able to drive a moped.
Why does everyone keep trying to take everything away from our kids that we had when we were young?
