That is most common sense approach I have seen considering this stupidity. Here in Chicago, many bars are ignoring the ban to keep their customers. The local cops consider it "stupid" as they have real crime to take care of. Most people have no problems with a ban in restaurants, although many restaurants were smoke free anyway, bring up the issue, "why is a ban even needed"? It's a group of paid lobbyists with no concern about local issues badgering local lawmakers to get their agenda, then moving on, like "snake oil" salesmen of the old west.

Even though there never should have been a ban, at least there was a compromise.

That one will not awaken any sleeping giants like the draconian Illinois ban. Hopefully the "all or none" being pushed by the drug companies, through tax exempt charities, will be the downfall of this whole stupid move. Had they left bars and private clubs out at the beginning, they probably could have quietly conquered the entire nation by now.

Your neighbor is learning from their mistakes. The beginning of the end of their ban may be starting. http://myaapreventuad.blogspot.com/2008/05/to...

I thought the public was invited to provide input on the smoking ban. Apparently the input was not of any value to the city council. What a waste of time - to take input then ignore it.

Reminds me of the quote "Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.". I think we wasted out time providing input.

Smokers are a sorry lot, because of their disgusting filthy addition to smoking, it seems that it makes a normal person into a monster that fiercly defends his habit to the death and that is what happens too many times, otherwise nice people will suck on those cancer causing cigarettes until their last breath, defending their right to do so, not seeing that the smoke that they put into the air also endangers all around them.
It's not that they don't care it is because their addition is so strong that their better judgment has been corroded by their addiction, I know I was one for 30 years but I quit 29 years ago a good decision on my part.
