I think it is highly irresponsible of Truitt to be fighting something as irrelavent as an expiration date. It is not very easy to vote without some form of address in a state, so what extra step does the expiration date really add? Just more frustration for many people. Voting is a right, not a privelage. Adding extra requirements deters people from the right, and this is just one cause for low turn out in the US.

Voting may be a right, but with the right comes responsibilities. You must be registered to vote at your current residence, and in Indiana, you must have a photo ID that meets the requirements. A date on the ID verifies that it is current and vaild. I graduated in 1997, still have my student ID, and could vote if I never canceled my registration. Common sense to preserve the integrity of the election.
