There have been at least four "reported" sighting of Puma in Eastern Allen Co. in the last two years. But even more claims are heard from the locals who won't report sightings as they think nobody would believe them if they did report it. I believe such sighting occur on a regular basis. Only two of the "reported" sighting are recorded on video and I've seen both and THESE ARE PUMA. NO DOUBT in my mind.

I lived and worked in Colorado twenty years ago and I witnessed Puma in their natural habitat. PUMA ARE HERE and these sighting were definitely PUMA.

We keep hearing that DNA officers refute local claims, saying what we're seeing are housecats. Wrong! Those seen on the video were approx. 150 lbs., maybe more. I've never seen a housecat that huge.
I absolutely DO NOT suggest anyone should shoot these "large housecats" UNLESS they threaten to attack family, pets or livestock. As for myself, I now carry a handgun when I enter big timber, just-in-case they decide they're hungry while I'm there. Puma must eat to survive just as we do.

I sure hope they stay with their DEER diet.

Just a couple quick comments. There is a good website that documents credible cougar sightings throughout the Midwest. It is
www.cougarnet.org
Also, I would be interested in listening to and/or documenting serious Cougar sightings in and around Indiana. Feel free to send me an e-mail
jrgoflo@yahoo.com
Cougar sightings in Indiana would be considered very rare but not completely out of the question. The western population has been slowly expanding eastward and there are still people keeping captive Cougars which may occasionally be released.

Last night (early am) I was driving south through a construction zone on I-65 south of W. Lafayette/north of Indy and a large yellow cat-like animal ran across the front of my car and jumped the cement construction barrier as it bounded off. I was at a loss at first, as it was clearly a cat from its jump, but it was far too big and sleekly built to be a domestic cat. I was going appr 60 mph and it came out of nowhere, but cleared the road in plenty of time right in front of my headlights...like bounding across the interstate was a common occurrence.
I'm not sure what size an area these cougars roam but there was a cougar spotted by a campground manager in the Monticello area. It was mostly met with disbelief but I'm sure of his (Manager) crediblity and have no reason to doubt him. Also out of the Monticello area, apparently local police and conservation officers chased a cougar through a residential/commercial area on the west side of town. They are around, they just hide well.

Several recent sightings in Rush County from the central part to over around Andersonville. They do exist and everyone and everything is at risk, from livestock to your pets and children. It's not really their fault but they're just trying to survive. They have to eat...but be aware, they ARE there.

The gentlman was visibly shaken and had no idea there were large cats in the area. I checked the horse, no injuries, but was lathered up and very upset. I live in Rush County, Indiana......has anyone else seen a cougar in the area?

Just saw a cougar running through the yard as I began mowing. It was about 6 P.M. We live about 30 miles NE of Indianapolis. Our property runs close to White River. Yesterday 3 white-tail deer surprised me. They come up to eat the fallen apples. We have many deer in the area.

There have been reports of this in the Uniontown, Indiana area too. This is to the west and close to the border of Jennings /Jackson counties.
I live on the Morgan Monroe line and I have seen Cougars for the last 20 years. So far I have seen two and tracked 5 or 6. Of course they may be the same ones.
