My brother has a 1963. And I had a 1965 that I had bought for the eng/trans/trailer. Ended up cutting the boat up and putting it out with the gargage each week.

I have heard that the boats were built were the Hungry Hunter currently is off of Pleasant Hill Rd. I do not know who built them. Dan Arena built a similar boat plus many others in Martinez. He or his son would probably know some of the history. Another source of info might be Jack Keaton. Jack built a similar boat in Sacramento.
There is a website www.keatonboat.com were you may be able to get word to Jack.

I have a 1965 Ski Craft picked up cheap off craiglist and it was cheap for a reason. There was rot in the floor and the engine hadn't fired in forever. We have repaired the floor, made stringers stronger, customized it and rebuilt the 327 chevy with 1965 aluminum DP intake. With custom trailer, we will be selling soon. Watch Craigslist. This boat has nothing to do with Keaton. They are rare boats.

I just picked up a Ski-Craft boat for $150, engine hasn't ran in forever, the boat itself is in pretty good shape. I can't find anything on the internet about these boats, what the heck did I buy? Any help would be cool. I would like to see some pictures of the same boat. Thanks

I have a 63 Skicraft 16 footer. I'm also unable to find any info on it. It has a mid engine Cruisader "flywheel forward" 283 small block. I would like to restore it and could use any info available. I know it was made in Lafayette, but that's about it. Thanks

I have a mid to late 60's 17' ski-craft with a flyweel forward crusader small block chevy setup, here in Canada. I bought it from a guy that drug it home from the Sacramento area about 10 years ago. All I know is he told me it was built in Lafeyette Ca.? Any history info would sure be interesting.

I have a 63 with a 283 in it. Its a nice little boat that rides well. I have had other boats and this one gets the most looks. They are not very fast and the hull drags a lot in the water but its great for put putting around. I plan on butting a larger, higher pitch prop and seeing what i can get out of it, but I must say it is a very smooth ride. Displacement is out of control on it though. I have a set of Lenco trim tabs ready to go on, additionally the original mercury steering box and cable were garbage and before I even put it on the water I replaced it with a cheap Teleflex unit.

Hi. I just purchased a 1962 Ski Craft 17' boat with the 283ci V8. It has a strip of painted wood down each side of the hull...for stability maybe? Not sure if these are original or added by someone. Id love to see pictures of other Ski Craft boats to compare to mine. Thanks! [email protected]
