What a joke! First the information is not accurate as the number containers sold is far more than 21 million in the State of California. The real number is in the billions of containers. Multiply that X .05 or .10 for larger container and you realize that the State is taking in billions of your dollars. Then calculate for yourself what you get back from your local recycler and you will find out you are only receiving the actual scrap value which is less than a penny. Where do you think those additional pennies go? Yes, right back to the State to steal from the fund. Then of course there are those pesky administration fees! Typical Government run program. Remember when we voted to approve the State Lottery so the Public Schools get some much needed revenue? Hmmm, where does that money go, how much, to whom? Well I guess the State had to add those CRV employee's to run the program in that big building in Sacramento. Oh yeah, they are paid with your tax dollars too. Maybe its time they were audited to see where the money really goes.

Man to man is so unjust, you don't know who to trust, your best friend could be your worst enemy, and your worst enemy could be your best friend ? But who the cap fits let them wear it ? 1980.

SO, WHERE THE HELL IS THE MONEY WE PAY BY WAY OF BEVERAGE CONTAINER FEES GOING TO???

SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME CRAPPY SYSTEM THAT DIVERTS OUR GASOLINE TAXES TO PROJECTS OTHER THAN STREET & HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE.
SOMEONE IS GETTING RICH OFF THIS. WE SHOULD ALL BE MAD AS HELL AND NOT TAKE THIS CRAP ANY MORE!

I would assume it's going the same place, but there's less of it due to the economic downturn. So while consumers buy fewer canned/bottled beverages, some of the recycling centers have to close down. The few remaining open are only the ones that the current funding can still support.

A.) It's a big scam, because the state counts on only a small percentage of the containers being returned for the same 5 or 10 cents that the consumer first pays. Most are turned in by weight, by which the consumer receives far less, and the state pockets the difference.

B.) It's not really about the "environment." Except for aluminum, there is not much of a market for recycled matereials. Most end up in landfills, but the libs feel good about themselves.

Turn in your cell phones and go get the Samsung Reclaim, from Sprint. Made with bio plastics, it even has apps built in to guide you to green living. The phone is even green. And it is the SHAT!!!
