Great idea...long over due. I've been hit twice in the last twenty years by old yanks running red lights. Time to make these old basturds pay.

It is very simple - if you don't want to pay (or worry about paying the fine), don't run red lights. When you see red or a long yellow, instead of pushing through, try stopping instead.

I am all about safety, but I have NEVER seen a patrol car at S.R. 50 and Hancock looking for red light runners in 8+ years, and I go through there several times a day. If this was about safety they would have at least posted a car there occasionally.

It is all about profit. Next they will shorten the yellow intervals to make the intersections more profitable... er, "efficient".

State Road 50 at Hancock Road ..That is not even in the City of Clermont. There's alot of accidents in that area. Maybe Clermont will take the intersection if the cameras go up that way they can put a patrol car on the state road 50 side. Right now FHP and LCSO work all the accidents there.
Good luck....Just start slowing down for the yellow lights and you will save a life if you stop for a red light.

Do the research. It's illegal under Fla. statutes. UF researchers said that it actually increases the problem. The fines levied are like parking tickets. No points on record or reports to insurance company. This is another "fundraiser" by local governments. Like the man said, if it was a safety problem, why haven't the cities employed live police observers at the intersections?

The problem is 50 and Hancock are not in Clermont's jurisdiction. Goodgame will not tell ya that just another smokescreen to let the citizen's think it is. By the way niether is 27 and Steve's Rd. Thought I'd Share that.

The city refuses to annex the intersection, it means that they would have to hire more cops and in a city where they say there is no crime, they can not allow that to happen. Four Officers patroling a city of 25,000+, if I was paying taxes in Clermont I think I would like the council to consider my safety of getting robbed then worrying about a camera at a red light that they don't maintain.
