If your son/daughter attends San Juan Hills High and you have utilized the baseball field parking lot but have now been instructed that you must drop off and pick up in the front of the school...please contact me at [email protected]

Just to provide some additional information...the baseball parking lot at SJHHS is clearly marked with a sign indicating it can be used for "school parking between the hours of 7am and 4:30pm." Also, we have been told the reason we can not utilize this lot is for safety purposes...because cars using the lot are turning left onto the La Pata resulting in an unknown number of recent accidents. I was told by the sheriff today that turning left of La Pata "was not gonna happen!" If I am not mistaken, that is a public street and an intersection like any other t-intersection and without a sign saying we can not make a left handed turn there, we are thereby allowed to turn LEFT!

I have personally been using this lot to both drop off and pick up my freshman son since mid-sept after several close calls in the parking lot from cars backing out without seeing him walking to our car. His final class is just down the steps from the baseball fields and we discovered it was much easier and SAFER for him to just come up to that parking lot after school to be picked up. I am there before the bell and usually turning on La Pata before the herd of cars from the front parking lot start roaring up La Pata. We avoid the aggressive parents usually pushing the speed limits and the 10+ minute wait on Antonio from the after school pile up.

I KNOW there are other parents out there concerned about their children's safety and frustrated at the way traffic is routed at the school. I also KNOW that there have been more accidents from parents driving over the speed limit in the left lane up Antonio to cut in on those traveling in the right lane - rear end accidents are pretty frequent on Antonio.

I need to correct myself...La Plata is actually the street with the rear end accidents (continuation of Antonio) and I guess according to the school map (Street "A") is the street that dumps into the school and is the street we've been instructed we are not to turn left at.
