What a disgrace to her children and the church. Hope she doesn't get too much time but, just enough years to learn her lesson.

Well, there's a vacancy in Susan Atkin's cell now. She'll fit right in.

According to the "bible", god used to turn people into used charcoal briquettes when they tried to muck with church finances...see Acts for the gruesome details about what happens when you try to welsh on a real estate deal.

Too bad that doesn't still happen. Besides being a great deal of fun (and solving the energy crisis)watching televangelists by the hundreds going up in flames, it'd keep "christians' a wee bit more honest.

The early church had a good scam going..when you joined up you gave *everything* you had to the cburch. None of this tithing stuff...you sold off your land and goods (You could keep your slaves...god didn't mind that at all.) and it all went to the preacher, every penny or god would flame you dead where you stood.

I never heard of the charcoal incident. I will have to read Acts and find it. The early so called church was run by whatever government was in power, so God was not involved. He was just used as a con to scare people in doing the church's bidding. In those days God was to be feared, not loved and worshipped. This woman is a thief. Doesnt matter who she stole from.

You should be a pastor. We'd love to hear more of your bible study lessons and member-control techniques.

It used to be "hell fire and brimstone". Maybe that is where he got the charcoal idea.

Acts Chapt. 4 starting at verse 5. But back up a bit to get the background about selling off *everything* you owned and turning the money over to the church. The "Epistle to Timothy" covers it being Ok to keep slaves after conversion if I recall correctly.

The early Chruch was a Communist organization in every sense of the word. "From each according to his ability and to each according to his need". Could be lifted straight out of first century recruiting pamphlets if they had had them.

This church must have a lot of income for them to take so long to notice that $200K was missing.
