What sort of sicko could shoot a kitten?
And whats worse is he will probably get a slap on the wrist instead of the serious jail time he deserves.

Who hires these officers..the one who stabbed a dog at x-mas was another freak. Is the requirement for this position,to include that you must hate all animals! In order to become employed securing and delivering animals to safety, it appears that you must have a drawn weapon and readily shoot to kill when the feeling strikes! Fire the person who hired these cowards, also!
If you are dealing with all liberal courts, as exist in this area..what do you expect? They too are the reason so many whackos exist in the regular population!

They say people that shoot or harm animals, eventually kill people! Look out for animal control officers!

If the crime this jerk is charged with is heinous enough to warrant a felony arrest, then, hopefully, the courts will take these criminal acts seriously and give this freak some decent jail time.

well i don't think they'll charge him with a felony . maybe for firing the weapon in a residential area . i'm pretty sure the animal abuse will only be a misdemeanor . i wouldn't bet $$ on it but i am sure he'll get a slap on the wrist . he has been employeed there for 15 yrs . i'm positive they'll consider him a "good employee , just doing his job ". like i said i'm not a big cat lover but this is just cruel .

He has already been charged with a felony (agravated animal cruelty)!

"But the SPCA says the animal control officer who responded shot and killed the mother cat and two of her kittens.

Barbara Carr (SPCA serving Erie County) said, "We had tips from neighbors that had some information concerning what had happened."

Bernice Bure didn't know about the incident that took place two doors down, and while she says stray cats have become a nuisance in the neighborhood, she doesn't think resorting to violence is the right way to resolve the problem.

Bernice Bure said, "Sure it's cruel. I didn't have any idea of why he would do that."

In the case, Fred Grasso is charged with aggravated animal cruelty, a felony in New York State."-WIVB

It said in the paper that the SPCA was called and did nothing. Where are people to take wild and unwanted cats when the SPCA won't take them in??
Maybe if there was a place for these cats to go there would not be incidents like this. Were these cats friendly? If the officer had caught them where should they go. No matter when you call the SPCA, they are full and not taking anything. I personally would have rather seen them euthanized humanely at the SPCA then shot and killed by a control officer. Let's focus on the real problem, where do these animals go that are unowned and unwanted if the SPCA won't take them?

There are a number of places that will take them if they are tame. Ten Lives Club in Concord is one.

If they are wild there are organizations that will neuter and inoculate them and set them free or find homes as barn cats (Feral Cat Rescue is one I believe)

If everyone would just have their pets spayed or neutered, we would NOT have all these stray animals. My 2 cats are rescues and I love them to death.
