The most significant plan to develop solar power in Colorado has been imperiled by an epic not-in-my-backyard standoff between Xcel Energy and a billionaire landowner.

What will it take for people to understand that the solution is in your backyard and mine? Point of use distributed generation/solar PV (DGPV) is the cheapest, fastest, smartest and greenest path to meeting and exceeding our RES NOW. Colorado has over 38,000-acres of suitable solar rooftops. Installing solar PV there and other urban vacant lands will create desperately needed new green jobs and put money in the pockets of ratepayers and generators. Yes the SLV has solar insolation values 10-15% higher than Denver but all of Colorado has excellent sun. The transmission costs and losses required to get our solar electrons to you cancel out that advantage and push the costs needlessly higher. We hope the Governor will take a serious look at the facts and do what's most beneficial for our environment, the citizens of Colorado and not just Xcel. Let's celebrate our energy independence by revving up for point of use "DGPV" today! Find out more at: http://slvrenewablecommunities.blogspot.com
