Go Dave Seaney...he was one of the top 2 picks (from the parent committee) last time and didn't get in and now he is returning for another attempt, because he WANTS TO BE HERE! Maybe the school board will listen this time!

He has the grant writing success that our district needs along, with the old school values and ideas to get our kids wanting to be active in their school seetings.

He was a teacher/coach/mentor to many students and if you ask them how they feel about him, they all would want him back-because it is about the kids! I believe personal hate or feelings should be left out of the voting and the person with the right experience...all the way around...should get the job!

Let's keep it here local with Seaney and if not Seaney then Tecklenburg (he has done wonders at the middle school)! They both know our schools and area and have always had an open communication with students, which is something Graybeal lacked!

Make the right decision this time...

Well I didn't mean it like that, I meant it is hard for some to look defeat in the face and try again...some can't get pass their pride when they have failed or whatever you want to call

He wants to be my whole point was ....who cares if he didn't get in the first time...he is coming back to go for it again.

I feel sorry for whoever comes in with education taking some severe hits. To bad too; the economy is bad enough and then to have districts cut their budgets almost in half is truly not fair.

There are other government/state funded things that can be cut, but education-come on!

Classrooms will be become bigger, so if test scores go down, who is to blame?

If we don't spend money to get these next generations a sound educational foundation how are they to tackle this faltering economy and turn things around? If's like building a house on the falt line for earthquakes. No solid foundation not much sense in building further! Hopefully we can get someone in who understands the community and who also wants to do the best for our future children and grandchildren. My vote will be on Seaney first and Tech next.

If it weren't for graybeal our district would be in bad shape, he has done a lot of good things for our district. He is a financial wizard.. might want to check seeney's track record in LaVeta.. not so good

Just an interesting note if Seany is picked. The last two Supt. would have come from La Veta.

My pick is Teck. He has bided his time and knows the town and the kids.
We will soon know

Hopefully our school board makes the right choice, whoever that may be!

Seaney took Graybeal's job when Graybeal got hired here.

An teresting fact for all of you-Seaney was the teachers first choice last time, not Grayebeal! So not only did the parent committee peg him at the top with Graybeal, so did the teachers!

Antonio-you need to provide facts with that kind of statement!

For those of you who keep saying "local guys only" or "keep it local" you obviously do not have a CLUE what it takes to run a school district.
It takes someone who is able to make tough decisions without worrying about who is going to be upset about it. It also takes someone who can handle a huge budget.
Last time around the Board did not go with the "poplular" vote, they went for experience and financial knowledge. In that respect they made a good choice. Yes, Dr. Graybeal made some drastic, but MUCH NEEDED changes. He was able to do this because he was not "local", thus not concerned with how unhappy some people would be (those people who don't tolerate any change, any time even if it if for the better).
I am not a 100% Wayne Graybeal supporter but the changes he made were to improve student achievement, cuz that had pretty much gone out the window.
Seaney was teh popular choice last time but he lacked experience. Teck lacks experience even more than Seaney did. Do you want someone running the school district who has barely even run a school with just TWO grades? Do you want someone local so you have a puppet? Someone who will buckle to the pressure of all you naysayers? Someone who will run the budget into the red probably within the year?? If so then yes I guess the Board should hire locally.
Get a Clue!!!
not so

Student achievement has gone downhill at the high school! If it doesn't improve the state is going to come in and take over! SO I would have to disagree with Reality Checks statement on student achievement.

There are a lot of changes that still need to be made in our school district!

I live in Lamar and will support whoever the school board hires!
what is the point

Dear Lamar Ledger,
What is the purpose of the "judge it" function? If a person can sit at thier computer and judge the same comment over and over again to make it appear as if lots of people are sharing their opinion, then really what is the point? Most programs will set it up so a person would only be able to use this feature once per comment unless they changed computers.

Antonio, Seaney was hired to clean up the messes that Greybeal left behind. As for financial wizard, you might want to ask him why he uses his own program for budgeting? He wrote it and he won't use anything but "his" own program. He has done nothing for the district except maybe raise some budget awareness. He does not associate with the teachers and gets irritated when a board member visits the schools. Ask a teacher when was the last time they were able to have a conversation with the man and most will tell you they have never. He has no clue as to what the teachers, faculty, and students do on a daily basis.
Ask the people in Laveta, they don't like Seany because they won't accept change. They had alot of issues within- Faculty and Board, he tried to clean up said issues and they refused.
Sounds familiar doesn't it, "We want change but your not going to change us?". Or, " We have done it this way for a hundred years, whats wrong with continuing this way?" I would like to see Seaney back, but not if he is not the best qualified for the job, and I would hate for someone to come in and think Lamar would change overnight, because it won't happen. No miracles here, just stubborn, bullheaded, opinionated people. Those are actually qualities that get overlooked or underated; but they have kept us alive for quite a few years.
Good luck to whoever, get out to Greybeal!

Tell me this Lamar school board, if you do hire Teck as Superintendent, is he finally going to have to give up coaching?
