I have an upcoming interview with Yates at the career center. Is Yates a temp agency like Kelly or Ranstad or is it basically an avenue for Nissan to save money? Do you get benefits like regular Nissan employees? Any info about the hiring process or any other additional info would be helpful. Thanks.

Im pretty curios too lol I actually have an interview this coming up week to work for Yates and Ive got quiet a bit of questions myself. I heard IF you are hired on they do a mandintory 5 day training WITHOUT pay. Now ive never heard of any places doing training so Im not really trusting this rumor, but after my interview ill try to remember to get back on here and let ya know what they said.

Curious,

O.k. thanks. I will do the same. I hope that after you actually got hired that they would pay you for training. That sounds a bit strange that they wouldn't. When is your interview?

I WORKED FOR THEM ABOUT 7YRS AGO (WISH I WOULD HAVE STAYED) IF I REMEMBER RIGHT YOU DO GET INSURANCE AND THE TRAINING IS PAID. THE ONE THING THAT REALLY STANDS OUT IN MY MIND IS THAT IF YOU WORKING ON AN ASSEMBLY LINE THAT HAS TO WORK OVERTIME YOU WORK OVER TOO. THE ONLY REASON WHY I LEFT WAS BECAUSE OF A LAST MINUTE SHIFT CHANGE THAT I COULDNT HANDLE AT THE TIME. THANK GOD I HAVE A JOB THAT I LOVE NOW.....GOOD LUCK

Hello Jason, my son works there now. Yates is a temp agency however, it's a lil different than your normal temp agency. The following is my opinion...Nissan contracts out with a couple of temp agencies like Yates to 1. keep employees pay down and 2. to prevent Nissan from going Union. None the less if you only have a high school diploma this is not a bad job. According to my son after you have worked there a few months you can be hired on by Nissan. I wouldn't bank on the last sentence on my reason for taking the job. You can get insurance after 90 days and the pay is around $12 hr. Bottom line if your just starting out in the workforce take this job.

I did a test for Yates. To begin training at the Smyrna, Tenn. location tommorow 4/30/11. I here the pay is about 11.00 per hour. I am hesitant about this job as it is with a temp staffing. I did have to take a test that ws given by the Dept. of Labor, in Nashville, Tn. I am hopiing that this job will be great for me. If you have any info about this job or company- email me Robvaugh777@gmail.com

Robert, I currently work for Yates in Smyrna. I've been employed at the facility for a little over a month. The staring pay as of May 1st will be 12.50 for day shift and 13.25 for night shift. From my understanding in conversations with Nissan employees, Yates is basically Nissan. Nissan hasn't hired a production employee since 2003. The only positions I see on the bulletin for Nissan job openings are supervisors, engineers, and other specialized positions. The rest of the positions, (assembly techs, picker /packer, forklift, etc) are all contracted out. The days of making 26.00 an hour for shooting screws on the assembly line are over, sadly. The top out pay is 18.50 for Yates at a projected rate of $1 raise per year. As for whether or not youíll like the job, thatíll be based on whether you like working in a manufacturing environment and other factors. I do not desire to work here long term because I have other ambitions. Yet with that said, Yates is a great company with good benefits. There's also a lot of opportunity for growth if you so wish. Good luck

My husband is going on the interview today, I will let you all know what he finds out. They told him at the Career center in Carthage TN that it starting pay is $14.00 an hour? I guess we will see what they tell him. He went through the testing in Carthage, now Murphyreesboro (sp?) called him to go there for interview? Who knows I'm hoping for the best. He took all of his testing already in Carthage tn.

Yates is not a temp agency they are a permanant sub-contractor for nissan, they have been at the nissan plant in smyrna since they opened up the plant. they are also the ones building the new battery plant at nissan.im currently going through training right now with yates its a 3 week process where u only go 1 day a week which is either friday or a saturday its unpaid and when your done they will have a nissan and yates supervisor evaluate you on your last day of training to decide to hire you or not. you get your benefits when you start your actuall job is what ive been told so far.

After your interview they call you to set up a drug test that you have to go to the nissan plant and take. That person that calls about the drug test will also ask you what days do you want to come in for your 3 days of training. They have fridays 7am-4:15 or saturdays same time. This is done at there training center.
