Our View: State sinking in sea of red

Full story: San Gabriel Valley Tribune

THE news just gets worse. As a dysfunctional Legislature continued to bicker over a budget that is bleeding red ink by the billions of barrels, California's bond rating dropped two notches to BBB, a reflection, in one rating agency's opinion, of fears the state is slipping further into economic chaos.

"Schwarzenegger was asking Democrats to consider saving dollars by cutting out fraud and waste in the welfare department. Not such a bad idea, but it was met with outrage from Democrats who said the governor is picking on the poor. "

How is cutting out fraud and waste in welfare picking on the poor? They really meant to say that any reduction in welfare spending, even if it is on waste and fraud, will adversely affect members of the Serivce Employees International Union. Karen Bass and the other liberals cannot step away from the feed bag of union contributions, and they would rather see the state go into bankruptcy than lose a dollar of campaign funding. How sad for California and to see this same scenario play out on the national level by tax and spend liberals to benefit unions alone is truly sad.

Bass is a community organizer. Never had a real job (remind anyone of a famous man named O). In any case she should not be in office and is incapable of honest negotiations. If the state is forced to wait for her to do the right thing, we will all drown.

It appears that issues of concern to the people are lost by indifferance. As the Democratic and republician parties agree to disagree on a budget. When if ever will consideration be given to eliminating the two thirds vote required to pass the budget?

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
