I believe these arrests (numbering 4 now since 9/2009) have a lot to do with the ability to sleuth this sort of crime out on the internet. Good police work pays off, as exampled by the efforts of the jurisdictions who combined to form the Houston Metro Internet Task Force. I believe that this crime is not located in La Porte inordinately, but that the investigation model used here is a successful and useful tool to be implemented worldwide. It is my sincere hope that La Porte is the example for which other jurisdictions use, ending the available outlet that the internet offers for this terrible crime against children.

La Porte an example for other jurisdictions? La Porte PD had nothing to do with these crime investigations or solving the crimes. LPPD is only capable of traffic stops and harassment. I know of 4 murders that have occured in La Porte and they have yet to solve any of these. Who ran over the lady in the hotel parking lot? Who killed the yound couple at the trailer park on McCabe road? Funny how these cases go unsolved and never to be heard ofagain, but boy do they like to print in the paper their PI arrest.

I believe that La Porte is part of the inter-agency task force that brought about the arrests for child pornography. What I was saying is that I hope that the success that occurred in La Porte will be modeled in other areas.

And, as a side note, those PI arrests do lead to other crime solving. I recently had a break in with items stolen and it was a PI arrest that found the culprits and returned a good bit of my things to me.

So yes, I am hopeful that this shameful shadow on
my community will become a part of the greater good, as an example of the available methods to stop this type of crime.

And who killed Hillary Farias?

I have an idea about who did that... she lived right accross the street from me.

I've tried to talk to Detective Huckabee about it... but he does not seem too concerned.

She was a bright young girl with her whole life ahead of her.

You really think that Huckabee is unconcerned about a murder? Come on now. Of course he is concerened. He is probably unconcerned with discussing his investigations with the likes of you.

I actually know Huckabee. He and the other more senior officers are a dying breed-the ones that honor to protect and serve. These young punk officers they have now are liars, vendictive, and prejudice. I am sure at some point the whole top will be blown away when the true actions of this younger department are all exposed. I do not believe anything I see or hear from the LPPD. I personally have succomb to some of there lies and misrepresentations. hell be it before I would assist them in any investigation. i am now more concerned for my safety from police than the people that are thought of as "bad".

I watched an officer make many degrading remarks to a man trying to stimulate a response so the officer would have a reason to arrest or become involved in an altercation. Of course, the police always arrrive in groups so they can all get in on the action. LPPD is a joke.

NEXT TIME A BURGLAR BREAKS INTO YOUR PLACE, CALL A CRACK HEAD. LPPD IS AND OUTSTANDING POLICE DEPARTMENT. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER, GET OFF YOUR A$% AND JOIN THE DEPARTMENT AND PROVE IT.

Just what would you have them do? And do be specific.

I am not ragging on all of LP's finest because there are some really great officers there but they are a dying breed. I "had" a family member in the department and the things I was told from him along with what his "buddies" would state makes me ill. The newbies are mainly arrogant little ba$tard$ trying to prove who has the biggest pair.

i asked about taking fingerprints, they used to do that, the cop said they don't do that anymore. basically told me it's my fault because i forgot to lock my doors. gee, thats reassuring. i wonder why cops are allowed to "badge out" but the civilians are not. and yes, you cops know what i am talking about. so don't get on your high horse preaching to me how good and wonderful you are. can't catch criminals in the act but damn sure gonna get the speeders. but i blame that on the city hall level. i am sure the police dept does good things, but don't ever claim to be perfect.

I love the cops in La Porte. Love, love, love them. We moved from Houston to La Porte in 1994 and there is no comparing Houston to La Porte cops. La Porte is so much better.

When my poor dying, elderly dog jumped our fence (!?!), the cops were kind enough to stop by and tell me where she was and that another resident was holding her for me.

We were the only ones in our neck of the woods by the bay who stayed for Hurricane Ike. I called the cops and in our discussion, the officer I spoke with invited us to their evacuation spot (if it came to that).

When a neighbor moved into the rental home across the street and started running an escort service with women lining up outside the home, the police had that shut down within 48 hours of my first call to them.

When another punk moved into the rental house a block away and attempted to start selling drugs, the police had that shut down within 24 hours.

I have no criticisms about the police department. They have been nothing but responsive in the situations we have had. The officers have gone above and beyond our expectations.

If anyone would like to see the difference, please move to Houston where no one cares and good darn luck to you in getting a police officer to your home unless it's a homicide.

WHY SHOULD THE POLICE CARE MORE ABOUT YOUR PROPERTY THAT YOU DO? SMART MOVE BY LEAVING YOUR PROPERTY OUT IN THE OPEN AND FAILING TO LOCK YOUR DOORS. REAL SMART !!! POLICE HAVE A HARD ENOUGH JOB AS IT IS, HAVING TO BABYSIT OTHERS PROPERTY IS RIDICULOUS.
AND I AGREE, LPPD IS ALOT MORE RESPONSIVE THAN HPD.

there you have it, police used to watch over the people, now they are watching the people. i didn't say they have to babysit, just watchout for the residents. bottom line, i should be able to have unlocked doors, because criminals feared the cops, now the criminals think the cops are a joke. do your job and quit bitching

if being a cop is too hard, then maybe you should pick another line of work.

Dear No Name, apples, and backingtheblue, This thread started off with a question related to the recent reporting of child pornography in our town. May I please suggest that you take your discussion about the effectiveness of the LPPD to a new thread? So titled, it might bring more contributions to your discussion. You might even want to start a poll.
