I did not respond to any of these comments. I was just told about this forum. We do the best we can at LPHS. Some will be okay with it and some won't. If you have problems that you would like to discuss, i am easy to find. I am glad that someone thinks i am little. I will not be leaving LPHS this year if it is up to me. Please do not use my name, be an adult and use your own.

John is the same "Ricky Torres" from the previous page. That is not the real Coach Torres. He should be ashamed for using the Coach's name. Like him or not, Coach Torres deserves the right to speak for himself and not have anyone pretending on the internet. If folks had a problem with him, they should have been man or woman enough to talk to him. It's not fair to go behind his back and bash him on the internet for all to see. I think that those that want to bash him behind his back, ought to be willing to step to the plate (so to speak), and do it themselves. I played all of my younger life and my Dad always coached. I saw how difficult it is to coach. Even grown men act like little whiny babies. Our sons played where they deserved to play and as often as they deserved as well. This isn't LPBBA anymore. Not out there for the fun of it (although you hope they still enjoy it), but out to win. That's the point at this level. Coach Torres doesn't play Daddy ball at the expense of a team loss. He would be slitting his own throat and that is ridiculous.

I feel he is a very unfair coach..... When he had seniors on his team that were starters and good players...... he pulled freshman up to have them pinch run & sub, when there were pleanty of speed & talent on the team already but b/c he knew these kids personally and were "friends of the parents" so the senior boys would not play so these kids could play..... bunch of crap, and he didn't care at all who he screwed over.... I don't know how he slept at night knowing what he did to those boys and didn't care.... most of the players disliked him A LOT and many quit the year before for doing that..... I can't wait til they replace him
If your son could cut the mustard, he would have been playing. You come across very bitter. If your son no longer plays, you should not wait breathlessly for Coach Torres' replacement. Why do you care? Will that make your son a better player? How would his replacement better YOUR life? As a resident of LP, you should hope our program is successful. Like it or not, he has made LP a good baseball program. My son quit a while back. He is a great kid and talented. He's been playing since he was four, select, etc, but I know his strengths and weaknesses. Coach Torres, Coach Joiner and the rest are out there to win. My son's weaknesses weren't going to guarantee that and that is fine. To wish him ill will is shameful. You wonder how Coach Torres sleeps at night? Well, I wonder that about you.

My son has played LPBBA and select ball for many years. He did not make Mickey Mantle and, after a long tryout, was also cut from the Sophomore team. I sent an email asking Coach Torres for his suggestions to help improve my son's chances at tryouts next year. He responded quickly and suggested my son work out to improve his strength and try to find a team with older kids he can play with and against (he has a May birthday and has to play in LPBBA with kids a year or two younger than him, which might have put him at a disadvantage). My son is doing exactly as Coach Torres suggested - working out several days a week and playing on a tournament team and competing against kids his age and older. If he makes the high school team - GREAT! If he doesn't, it's not from lack of trying. He can continue to play baseball with his tournament team. If your son is good enough to play high school baseball, you should have no problems finding him a local select/tournament/showcase team to play with. One coach's decision should NOT affect any kid (or parent) for life.

Sounds like Coach Torres gave you some thoughtful advice. And your son sounds like a lucky young man to have a dad with thoughts like yours.

Coach Torres has done an oustanding job with the La Porte High School Baseball team. Of course during his time in La Porte he has mad some parents mad because "little johnny" was always the best player in little league and now in high school he sits the bench!!!!! GUESS what folks all your ass kissing and buddy system in little league does not work the same in High School. Coach Torres plays the best player to give his team a chance to WIN!!!! Wake up La Porte Parents get over yourself cause maybe Little Johnny is nnot a high school starter!

I had to step up and get it off my chest! I always hated parents and players growinng up that thought they were above the rest when really they were the best ass kissing family in town!

Move on with your lives! Coach Torres has done the best with the talent that he had. If you can not take a little bit of adversity in life then why are living it. Baseball is a game! Get over it and stop just talking about your kid! There are hundreds of players who have been positively impacted by Coach Torres.
