If the winner heard about this post it would be very hurtful. Let's remember the ages of these girls and not start stuff like this.

Who are the judges in the Miss Sylvan Beach Pageant? Don't think I have ever heard what the girls are judged on? Beauty, poise, talent?

Your right, I was just thinking about the girls that never had a chance to begin with. Geez....what was I thinking? Don't worry, the truth will come out!!

One person controls the pageant, one person has to APPROVE the winner, one person has the final say so. Did you notice that the festival was changed to accomodate the winners? How do you think that happened? A coincidence? I don't think so. This is for all the girls and parents out there now and in the past, that are trying for the scholarship. Until some changes are made, this is not a fair competition. And before you say I am a bitter mother that my child didn't win...think again, I would never let my two sons do the pageant. I hear things that go on, I happened to notice what other parents say as well as the kids.

And exactly how much do they win? Shelby is a wonderful, talented young lady and she deserves winning. If you have some secret knowledge, why don't you go to the proper authorities instead of putting it on here?

Correction, one the parents just informed me that they did not change the time after all. I was not there when they made the announcment. I don't doubt that the winner is a fine young woman, Congrats to her and her family. I am just saying it's time for leadership change so to make it fair to all contestants.

That is called being a pageant coordinator. btw - a totally volunteer position with many hours put in to benefit both the community and help at least five girls pay for college. Again, the winner is an outstanding individual, along with the runner ups,(and hopefully all candidates) unlike other years when girls of perhaps less desirable moral character won - so no, I don't think it was rigged. btw , the same coordinator was in charge in the years where I didn't think the choice was top notch. Thank you for correcting the statement that adjustments were made, but you should check your facts beofre posting.

Who is the pageant coordinator? If there was even the hint of impropriety then it should be addressed.

Two of the girls including the winner were competing in a UIL one act competition that night. The play was at 7pm and was over at 8pm. Shelby got All Star Cast and Katie McKinley got Honorable Mention All Star Cast. This is double honors for these young ladies. This might have accounted for any scheduling changes.

La Porte's one act performance was very good. Unfortunately La Porte did not advance to state, but making it to regional is a great accomplishment.
