My husband is in the Army. He is a graduate of La Porte High School and a Class of 2000 West Point graduate. Our two kids and I recently moved to La Porte for family support, while he deploys to Afghanistan soon. Moving is stressful, regardless of the circumstances, but having my husband go to war leaving me to be a single parent for a year is that much more difficult. I recently enrolled my two year old in daycare at the Peanut Gallery in La Porte. Meanwhile, my husband came home for block leave for three weeks. I called the Peanut Gallery wondering if they would allow my son to stay home with him during this time, yet still keep his spot. Before I could even finish my question, Yvonne, the director, told me that they would do whatever we needed them to do. She immediately offered my son a reserved spot without a fee. Not only that, she genuinely offered her support and gratitude. This may not seem like much, but let me tell you, it was huge. I appreciate their understanding and support more than words. Thank you!

Thanks for your post on Topix. It's nice to read something positive for a change.
Kudos to Yvonne of the PEANUT GALLERY Daycare in accommodating your family in such, as you said, a very trying and stressful time. There are good people that live here in La Porte. My best wishes and prayers to you and your family and prayers for the safety of your husband.
