Let's kick Squibbs restaurant around a little. Remember when.

Wasn't that the stone restaraunt in Morgans Point? I never got to eat there. I remember people carrying off parts of it when they were tearing it down. That was when the port bought out all those houses. Some sold theirs and then had them moved to lots up in La Porte. Was that the early 70's?

Squibbs was on 146 close to Shoreacres. Old man Squibb bought his meat special and made thick and juicy hamburgers.

Remember Jimmy Sandberg? I believe he used Squibbs for his office. You could find him their any evening drinking beer and chatting with everyone. I believe Mrs Squibb did all the cooking and Mr Squibb was the ambassador of good will. What was the waitress's name who was their so long?

The restaurant at Morgans Point was Zeizigs and it and Bob and Maries attracted people from all over. Really good food. Early 70's probably.

I was lamenting to my wife just a couple days ago, that we needed a good homemade burger stand here again. I said you know, like the Point or Squibbs....

For a while we had a good selection, remember Joles (sp?) on the freeway (great onion rings) where Happy Cajun was, or burger depot/junction. What was the restaurant on the corner of San Jacinto and Park was it Maries? Maybe Ellens?

What a wonderful memory and makes me want a good hamburger and good seafood. You forgot to mention Pete's Hamburger stand across from the high school and close to the Catholic Church. Those sure were the good ole days. Let's not forget the City Dump. When we ate there for lunch I always had dinner for that night also. They need to strive to bring in those kinds of restraunts again. We have plenty Tex-Mex and Bar-B-Q places. Bring us some good ole handmade burgers some with chili on them. I have to stop talking about food or I'll have to go get something to eat. Thanks for memories!!!

Loved Squibbs!! Actually I live across the street from there and one of the cooks, along with Mrs. Squibb, was my grandmother for many years. A good old chili cheeseburger would be great!!

Her name was Margaret. She was Gary Kopper's mom.

Thanks. It takes everyone working together to remember things. Funny about that.

Yes and now I remember Margaret's last name was Arnold and her husband was Ray. Funny how your mind works (or doesn't)

I ate twice at the City Dump, HUGE chicken fried steaks, but I should have gone to something else.

I remember that Squibb had a daughter, Doris Pratt, and I wonder if she is still alive? I think they moved somewhere in North Texas.

What wonderful memories!! Squibbs was a concrete block building that was across from Shady River and beside the Stop N Go. My parents and I ate there for ages, and I really do miss their wonderful food. To this day I still make a knock-off of their salad dressing that my mom made. I don't know if it's authentic, but it does remind me of the place and the good, honest food - and some gorgeous tomatoes he always had on those salads. That was the only place my mom could get me to eat a salad and tomato.:P

Would love to have a good homemade hamburger joint around here! Sounds good! Until then, I suppose I need to eat at Tookies or fudruckers, hopefully someone will open up a good hamburger joint out here in good ol LaPorte!

From what I've been seeing here, isn't that what "Carl Jr's" is supposed to be?
