You must be new to them, can get stuff done cheaper at the dealer. THEY ARE NEVER WRONG (or make mistakes that cost you)!

You really need to have facts before you accuse a repair shop. It could be that they do overcharge or it could be that it is only natural to complain about paying anything for something that you would rather not have to do.

I had heard unfavorable things as well, but have always been pleased myself.

They're okay for oil changes and tune-ups. Labor rate is a little high though. I print the coupon for the oil change ($19.95)

I had a horrible experience, also. They were very good at calling me every step of the repair until their diagnosis was wrong. I was charged $900 for a part that probably wasn't broken, but I had no way to prove it. On top of that the mechanic was very unprofessional when I talked to him. I will never go back and I have told everyone I know about my experience.

Care to elaborate a bit......how did they rip you off? What should others watch for if the go to this business? I have wondered as they are close and would like to find a shop to take the car when needed.

I had them offer to change my oil during a state inspection, they said it was burnt looking, I had just changed it 1000 miles before the inspection and checked everything before bringing it to them. They asked who does my maintenance and I said I do, that there was nothing they could do in that shop that I couldn't do my self. It got quiet and then I knew that they lie to people just to get more work and if you don't know what's going on it could cost you money for nothing!

I've gone there twice and felt burned both times also. Balancing tires and a rotation cost cost nearly $100 and didn't solve a problem. They charged $99 just to put their little diagnostic computer. I learned that I can get this done at an auto parts store for free. There is something about this place that when you leave, you feel cheated, or will be.

I had my car towed in there because it wouldn't start. They couldn't find out anything with the code reader, so they started to tear into it. They were very good about calling me every step of the way. They called and said the computer was fried. Oil had leaked on it. I wasn't aware that I had an oil leak, but what do I know...While they were installing the $900 computer I started researching on the internet. I found people with the same problem and it had nothing to do with the computer. That is when the calls slowed down. The computer was installed and it still wouldn't start. It ended up being the problem that I found on the internet. They never called to let me know it wouldn't start after installing the computer. As far as they were concerned the computer was bad, also, and I'm sure it was once they found out the car still wouldn't start. Soooo, almost $3,000 later I drove it out of there, but not before the mechanic told me it would run long enough for me to trade it in. I tried to contact the owner to let him know my feelings about this experience but never got a reply. Never again!!!!

We have also had a bad experience with them. Will never let them touch another vehicle we own and will never refer them to anyone. I will pay double to have my vehicle towed to a different business.

I use La Car Porte for oil changes on my son's older model car due to the $19.95 coupons, but for repairs I use La Porte Automotive. I feel they are really trustworthy...we take all of our cars to them and have never had an issue with their service. We are able to drop off our cars in the evening, place the key in the drop box along with the repair form, and they call you the next morning.

This place is a real rip off that is for sure. They will lie to you about what is wrong with your vehicle just to try to make an up-sale so they can take more of your money. They also charge you a lot more than the dealer would and they will make you pay top price to get the good quality parts and turn around and put the cheapest ones they can find so they make extra money off of you, and the labor rate is ridiculous it is way to high! Higher than anywhere else I've ever been. And the some of the mechanics only have a few ASE certifications and really aren't qualified to be doing some of the repairs that are performed only one of the three he has are a master tech, overall I would not recommend anyone to this disaster area even the customer service is a joke they are there to take your money not be your friend so don't be fooled people.

First of all I didnt do my research before I went here. This place is NOT BBB accredited. It seems as if the honest reviews are really bad and the dishonest reviews are to good to be true. The owner is probably writing his own reviews, and I say this for a couple reasons 1-some of the reviews I have found are from user Richards..(the owners name is Richard), 2- after what I experienced I just find the good reviews unbelievable. I looked into the matters furhter and a lot of people are being ripped off. When I took my car in and asked exactly how much it would be to fix it. They said all that was wrong was one thing that was 400 to fix it. Then I got a phone call later that day telling me that they found other problems and the total was going to be more than 400. In the end it ended up costing me 959.12. I was furious because I knew exactly what was wrong with my car, so I took it back to the dealership I bought it from in 2008, and they said "It looks like whoever was working on it last didnt know what they were doing and broke parts while trying to fix the main problem." I called La Car Porte and spoke with the Owner Richard to confront him about the issue and he said quote " well thats to bad Im sorry, your fired as our customer, so don't bring your vehicle back here again."
SO BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!

Yes... this most definitely is a personal attack... someone with an agenda or a grudge... or maybe even a competitor.

The writer even judged their own post as brilliant... only a minute after the post was made... and we all know just by reading this post... it was most definitely not worth a brilliant tag.

I believe you!!! I know someone that works there, and they do rip people off!!! Dont go here unless you want to spend lots more than you have and are wanting things that arent broken to be fixed!! They esp rip off the older people( how sad is that)!!!! The owner is a prick, he goes through more employees than walmart does(lol)..but true..hmm wonder why??? If you arent kissing his A** 24/7 then you will be on his bad side. My friend told me that he fired some poor guy with 2 kids and a mother with cancer right before his 2nd was born-he said that he cut his hours down to an hour a day then when the owner went on vacation told the guy in charge to give him the boot. They charge you for the most expensive part and give you the cheapest part!
