Like losing a member of the family. I'll miss all the store personel and the convenience.
Am glad nobody lost their jobs.

Albertsons out
The Albertsons store here will close Thursday, but by the early part of September the building will become a Valu Plus Food Warehouse.

Illegal immigrant people don't like shopping at American food markets.
They don't feel comfortable, so they just go to the Gigante or Northwest markets to segregate themselves from America. This is too bad. It won't last forever because the second generation kids won't shop at the Mexican food markets. This is pandering to a small segment of the population here, so it's all about money. The problem is that alot of those shoppers will just take their business to Ralph's or Stater Bros. This parking lot may also now evolve into a day laborer area as well. Just warning the Whittier residents. I used to live there. |

Sounds like Altbersons Market was losing money in that location, that's the real business decision. Valu Plus Food Warehouse will lose money there too, it's too close to Stater Brothers on Mulberry and MIlls in addition the location it's just an ugly site unsafe area.

I drive past this store everyday on the way home from work. The intersection is declining in appearance, especially on the northwest corner - opposite of Albertsons.
The intersection of Mulberry and Mills where Stater Bros. is located is the one that has obvious problems with day laborers. What a shame. |

"Sproul said his company likes the area because of its high percentage of Latinos." That's racist!
This is why Albertsons is leaving. Albertsons does business in America and not in Mexico. Pander, pander, pander. |
|
How is that racist? Can a company not have a target audience? |

Will miss store

I live down the street for there and I never shopped there, the place was bad. That whole corner is trash
|
|
the only reason it's trashed is because of the wet backs. i grew up there and lived there for 21 years the people that worked there were like my family they watched me grow up from the time they were luckys. and yes you can call me racist i really don't care. because i know im not. but ever since these wet backs moved in and they gang bangers that are mexican bringing there drugs and volience that place hasn't been the same. but thats whats going to happen in a lot of other places to if we don't put our foot down and take a stand against them. it won't be the same without the store. |

I do live by this store and it really scares me what may happen her since nobody seems to give a rip about the abonded builing on the northwest corner with homeless living in it were are the council people to protect us tax paying home owner.something drastic needs to happen here for the safty of the community and the children that go to school less than 100 ft away. what is Albertsons thinking....we dont need a latino supermarket......why do we always try to make them comfortable....

Yes! I agree! I have lived here for 25 years and the north west corner needs to be demolished and re-done! The man that owns the liqiour store there will not sell the land because he owns that whole area. In n' out burger tried to buy the land but he wouldn't sell.

The fact that the new store replacing Albertson's is directing their business to only one racial group, out of many, is more than disappointing. It's not leaving the rest of with warm and fuzzy feelings! The loss of our mainstay grocery store and pharmacy is hard enough with out insults on top of it!

1 I've been living in the same house for 25 years I'm the third generation of my family that has been there I know the area very well there was a shooting last night down my street and its just getting worst. I'm not racist ether but I think this Valu Plus is just going to make things go down hill even more. I also think that the north west corner needs to sell and rebuild cause it looks like a ghetto over there |

it is going to bring in the rift raft like the food for less does and I am hispanic, some of us where raised with value and morals, I am brown and proud but I am not proud of the pigs and gangs, there in every culture white, black, asian, hispanic, itlian. |

This is happening everywhere - it's soon gonna look like East LA and Huntington Park. Also, to SOME of you latinos out there: please pick up your trash. I watch many of you throw your garbage on the street when you're only 2 feet from a trash can.

Turning to crap, It is not just the latinos my friend. Take a real close look. What is wrong with East La...I remember when the white community was so angry to have the 99 cent store coming in..I see more people from the friendly hills area shopping there. So whats the big deal. Just wait and see. If you want to be trashed it will, Its not only the Latinos...good prices, I am sure all races will be shopping there. Its all about saving a buck.
