1 Some college professors are Mexicans and most cholo taggers are Mexican, therefore dont insult one type of Mexican because you insult all Mexicans. This is Paz de a Nah`s thinking. Jeffery Daumer was White and the current Pope is White, therefore all Whites are bad people. This is also Paz de a Nah`s thinking. I will say whatever the heck I want about cholos. They suck and bring society down. They dont represent good Mexicans. |

Does Pico Rivera really need THREE Starbucks??? And with one on Telegraph and Rosemad, on the Pico Rivera/Downey border, some may say PR has FOUR Starbucks!

7-11 coffee is not good at all. You're crazy who ever said that. You can get a cup of water put some dirt in it and it will probably taste better than their coffee.

Local coffee hang-outs are the best...such as Coffee Gallery in Altadena or Beantown in Sierra Madre. They bring people together who talk about local issues, the employees usually include the owner, and they can be great places to build community. Starbuck's attempts to do this, but it just doesn't ever seem to be the same. Whether in La Canada, Pasadena, or Marina del Rey, they seem like drive-thrus. BTW, the one in Santa Monica is cool, because you can make your own CDs. They expanded too quickly and became oversaturated in certain communities, which has contributed to the closings. The one good thing about Starbuck's is their employees are provided medical insurance. My friend is a barrista and has full coverage for her family. She joined Starbuck's for the benefits when her large mortgage lending company kicked the bucket. Basically, not all is bad with Starbuck's--just like most things--they just took a good idea a bit too far too quickly.

Two more great coffee houses with fascinating conversations and interesting people:
Caltech's The Red Door (on campus) Fuller's coffee house adjacent to their bookstore on Walnut--sell fair trade coffee and all tips are designated to local and global charities. |

7-11 coffee is not too bad but they tend to make it on the weak side. Burger King coffee is very good. Taco Bell coffee is also very good. Denny`s has excellent coffee too. Also, a lot of the Asian mom and pop donut shops make coffee too weak. Its amazing how weak a cup of coffee can be brewed and still be called coffee.

I'm with you. Put the money into you little mom & pop shops. They're working on the "Dream". You'd have to an idiot to pay that much money for a cup of coffee... |
|
Not only that but they have a Starbucks on Whittier Blvd. where Target is and less than half a mile next to Tommy's, they just put another one with a drive thru. Talk about stupid!! Why do you need that many Starbucks so close to each other! |

They keep up with supply and demand. You could have 10 in a row. If their making sales. their going to stay open for business. I don't even know how many we got in Pasadena, I quit counting them long ago. Excuse me, I'm now off to get my Latte with an extra shot of Esspresso now. |
