I feel for most of the people involved in this tragedy, whether they're directly or indirectly involved. Very sad and very preventable.

Anon wrote: Do you stop, or even slow down, at green lights, to be sure no one is going to run the red? At green lights, I don't stop but I will often slow down especially if I'm driving the first car at the intersection after a light changes. I've witnessed enough serious collisions to know that there are plenty of idiots who will run red lights. About a year ago, my wife was driving when our car was nailed by a drunk driver who ran a red light. Our car was totaled, but, by the grace of God or chance -- take your pick -- nobody was seriously injured. The truck missed the passenger compartment of our car by inches. Now EVERYBODY in my family is a lot more careful when entering intersections, even if we clearly, clearly have the right of way.

So think before you spout off. Sorry about your friend. Your not worth aruging with. People like you don't matter at all. Though, it is pretty sad that you people make such comments. No need for a responce. I don't care for your meaningless reply.

But according to driving codes, as they stand now, the driver WAS at fault. Since cops & DA's don't always follow the law, the driver may get off. Who's the fool? YOU ARE! If you're driving down the street and some kid runs in front of your car and you can't stop in time and end up killing the kid, you have done absolutely NOTHING WRONG! You show me the "driving codes as they stand now" that prove the driver was at fault. I DARE YOU! You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. BTW, doofus, they're called VEHICLE CODES not "driving" codes, you moron.

Get off, This poor woman will live with this for the rest of her life. The cops as you put it, have cleared this poor woman of any crimal actions, she DID NOTHING wrong, she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This girl ran into street, ran across five lanes, the poor lady had no chance of seeing her. How dare you. Get off, I'm sure she in a horrible state of HELL. This will be with her forever, Even though she DID NOTHING wrong. Anon wrote: <quoted text> You're a fool. Yes, she was dumb to do something without being more careful. You idiots who keep whining that she did nothing wrong amuse me. She's obviously too old to be on the road. The same way they have a minimum age to drive, they need to have a maximum!!(And no, not test them in order to make exceptions!) By 70, 75, maybe 80...pick a number. But by some point, I don't care how well you test, you shouldn't be on the road. Hell, even Asian drivers pass the darn test. Does that mean they should be driving?! I don't think so.

Amazingly ignorant and so proud of it!! Even though most accidents involve young males (under 25)?

Either that or someone who doesn't want to be burdened with driving her parents around. LOL! Get a clue!

Get a clue! Accident rates are pretty stable between the ages of 25-75. On both the upper and lower range of ages, the accident rates increase. Young male drivers cause more fatal accidents (driver, passengers, other cars) than ony other group. This is probably because they drive too fast and speed is the number one indicator of fatality in auto accidents. USDOT and other sites have all the numbers. My parents are both under 75 and have never been involved in a fatal collision. I see teen drivers daily who take risks behind the wheel. I wish they wouldn't. I want them all to grow up and grow old safely.
