Was he messing around in the golf cart? The title is deceptive and kind of makes you think he was golfing. But seeing the time of the accident (10:30 pm) and knowing Canyon Lake one might conclude they were messing around in a customized (raised like a 4x4) cart.
Sorry to hear about the loss.

I just read a tiny bit more about this. The vehicle was a 4 person golf cart which turned over on it's side.

Mr Hammonds was ejected sustaining head trauma, and was pronounced less than an hour later a HOA member and is beleived to reside there at least part of the time.

A local writer noted that Hammonds is listed as being

A similiar incident occurred at almost the same location 4 or 5 years ago killing a couple after the after they hit a curb and were ejected from their golf cart.

Canyon Lake is a fairly good sized gated/private community, also incorporated as a city.

The assumption is golf carts may be standard move about town transportation, but I don't recall ever seeing one there years ago as a kid, but times change and they are all over Laguna Hills today.

Keith hammonds will be greatly missed.I am so gratefull he selected me to be a DAVCAL team member. The oppurtunities he gave to me have improved the quality of life for myself and my family. Keith left us so suddenly and far too soon. Had I known last Wednesday would be the last time Id ever seen him, I would have shook his hand, looked him in the eyes and said "Thank you, Thank you, so very much". Via con dios mi Amigo.
