What is wrong with East La...I remember when the white community was so angry to have the 99 cent store coming in..I see more people from the friendly hills area shopping there. So whats the big deal. Just wait and see. If you want to be trashed it will, Its not only the Latinos...good prices, I am sure all races will be shopping there. Its all about saving a buck. Save your buck for yourself...you missed the point. What he means is - stop throwing trash on the ground when the trash can is 2 feet away from you. Stop trashing your neighborhood and tell your kids to stop spray painting the walls and shooting ppl who try to stop them. The worst part is.. you guys are shooting your own ppl. b/c they want to claim some piece of turf like a dog claims his "pee" area.

What does being a taxpayer have to do with a supermarket closing? The gov't can't do anything about it.
Anyway, the real problem at that intersection, as others have pointed out, is that bombed-out eyesore at the northwest corner. I've never been in that liquor store, and now that I know they're the reason that area looks so disgraceful I surely never will. Hopefully the new 7-11 will run them out of business and force them to sell.
And does anyone know what they're building on the southeast corner?

being a tax payer is supposed to mean alot i really dont care about the store as long as it is kept clean but in the article they refer to council people why dont they do anything about the eye sore on the northwest corner i live right there and homeless sleep in there and people use it as a public toilet. what are we supposed to do about this?

What a shame. My mother lives a few blocks away from Albertsons. It was a nice area when she moved there 20 years ago. Bringing a Value Plus Food Warehouse to this area will be devastating to the decent property owners who reside there. When this store moves in, so will more and more illegals. Chunts in cowboy hats and big belt buckles. Beer bottles and cans all over. The illegals pushing the ice cream and corn carts. Sad, very sad.

going to be missed wrote: <quoted text> the only reason it's trashed is because of the wet backs. i grew up there and lived there for 21 years the people that worked there were like my family they watched me grow up from the time they were luckys. and yes you can call me racist i really don't care. because i know im not. but ever since these wet backs moved in and they gang bangers that are mexican bringing there drugs and volience that place hasn't been the same. but thats whats going to happen in a lot of other places to if we don't put our foot down and take a stand against them. it won't be the same without the store. Well, the reason wet backs move in is when home owners sell or rent to what you called wet backs... and there is no police patroling the area. They are free to do whatever they want.

Your property values is going down the tubes. The reason is that there too many homes on the market and not enough buyers. Too many foreclosures, too many poeple losing their jobs and can't pay for their homes.. it's not the wet backs fault!

It's so depressing, I loved growing up in this city.
