I'm curious...when you say that some of the board members are out for themselves?? What exactly is in it for them?
I know a lot of them work full time and then still put in so many hours volunteering....
I give big kudos to anyone who puts in that much volunteer time.

Who are you talking about?? Maybe they didn't run or maybe there just wasn't enough votes for them...
Why dont you ask Jeff duhammel what happened to those board memebers that were not voted back?? He put a flyer of slander out on those that stood in his way to run the league. He has made Dwight his puppet. Very sad that the kids have everything to lose by the league being run by the puppetmaster duhammel!!! He is out for himself and his own gain! And those that get brought on to the board at this time and date are more of duhammels puppets!! Very sad that a once elustriuos league is falling to pieces under a man out for politcial gain!!!
good luck!!!

I would agree with the above. The 2010 season at lmll has been a disaster, because of rain half of tryouts were cancelled and kids were drafted blind. More then 2 coaches in the league were given teams to manage but there sons were put in the draft in a different division. I agree completely that the league needs new blood. It definitely starts with Dwight and Jeff.
And I would agree that Jeff is doing this for another reason besides the kids. Is it normal to have more then half the board not have kids in the league? What is the incentive to be better with no children in the league?

Well parents the other option is LMBA Pony. Pony has there own issue but it seems, according to these posts, Pony is better run.

If you or anyone else wants to run for the board then do so. The people that don't have kids playing do it for the love of the league or almost feel obligated because no one else will step up. Be careful what you wish for because if Dwight and Jeff step down after this year there will be total cahos. You have no idea how much time and effort is put in to running this or any other league. So quit bitching and run for the board and make a difference.

Both leagues have thier issues and you have players leaving LL to go to Pony aony players leaving to come to LL. It is the luck of the draft where your kid ends up and with which coach. Some are better than others but they are all parent volunteers. The main issue with LL is they change the rules and shoot from the hip too often. When you try to make one wining parent happy you usually piss of 25 others. Stay consistent. Stop reprinting the same rule adjustments that are handed out each year without correcting the changes that are made each and every year. Stop worrying about getting that extra late sign up and have the draft complete so players can start practicing February 1st. You penalize hundreds to get a handful of late people. Don't automatically promote managers. Directors should spend time watching their managers and talk to parents to see if you want to continue giving them a team. Some managers will find ways around the rules and if caught they and their coach should not be issued teams next year. This then comes down to having enough knowledgable parents to take teams or you are in the same spot. At least you tried.

I choose LL because the game is better for the kids up to 10 year olds. After that I will have to look again for 11=12. I prefer LL for 13-14 since they go to a regular size field and Pony doesn't. My preference is on how you want to teach the game. At 9-10 the kids are not ready for lead offs.

Total Cahos? It is already a Fiasco, and with a Fiasco it can only get better.

I don't think for a second that people with kids in multiple sports do not realize how hard it is to run a league. It takes dedication, total dedication. Their are people very high in all the leagues that have their own idea of how things should be run, The thing that I dont understand is if this many people are unhappy, why would a volunteer stay and put up with the problems? With or without the Dwight or Jeff, LMLL will survive, it has been around forever. Whoever is running it next year needs to not be a dictator and get to know the people in the league, they might be volunteers but they serve the people of the league not the other way around. The key phrase is THEY ARE VOLUNTEERS. Yes they are, THEY VOLUNTEERED for this. It sounds like all Leagues have issues and this one certainly has theirs. I dont know about shutting up, that sounds like an order, and the mentality that probably started this thread. These people need to work together and the board needs to be hands on. Someone mentioned Jeff has alterior motives, not sure what that means, he seems like a nice guy when he is around, but someone did mention that he does not seem to know who the kids in the league are unless they go to school with his kids. Again, not sure what that means. My nephews just want to play baseball in a good league, but with my youngest nephew starting Teeball next year my sisters kids might be playing at LMBA because all the kids play in the same park. Oh well, I hope the League figures out what needs to happen. And all the kids have fun learning the game.

I completely disagree. The only people I know that switch to LL from Pony is to play on the larger field right before high school. I also did this with my son. Pony teaches real baseball skills from the beginnning. My son was shocked and frustrated when he realized no one else on his team (13 & 14 yr olds)knew how to lead off. A skill he had learned at the age of 8 or 9 in Pony.

Using your logic, All kids should play LL until they turn 11 and then go to Pony for 2 years and then come back to LL. While Pony pitches from 38 ft (7-8) and 42 ft (9-10) LL is at 46 feet with 60 ft. bases for the entire time. AT 9-10 with leadoffs, everything is a triple whether a player walks or gets a hit they steal until they get to 3rd. So, they know how to lead off and steal but no one learns how to turn a double play. At least at 11-12 Pony Pitches from 48 ft. and have 70ft. bases to help the game. As you mentioned playing on the small field at 13 doesn't help for High School ball. It is back to play where your kid will enjoy the experience. Even great young players get burnt out if they are not enjoying the game. Stay with your friends and have fun.

Over the last 3 years the league has gone down. There has been so much fighting among the board members it makes me sick. Years before we didn't all agree but we worked as a team. Not have petitions to remove board members because they didn't fit in or they had different ideas than you. Back stabbing has become the norm. Dwight has been wonderful and has worked hard over the years but I guess it has just wore him down. As a board member you don't volunteer to see what you can get out of it but what you can do to make the league better. I believe If anything your child suffers more when your on the board because you are held to a higher level. Quit worrying about whose smoking in the parking lot and make things better for the kids on the field, better training for managers and coaches, better equipment, better lighting. Put together an awesome all star team so they can make it to the World Series, not place coaches son's because their coaches. I have loved my time as a volunteer, but the last year was the worst. There were people there that made it miserable. That old saying I know people get tired of; Its for the kids is true. Do better LMLL our kids deserve it.

Let me guess you'll tell me it's ok, rules are meant to be broken and it's Dwight give him a break, what about the boy with asthma why not give him a break?
It's in the handbook and the La Mirada Code of conduct for a reason...
