The History of Human Rights

Youth for Human Rights International has written a booklet, The Story of Human Rights. It has a chapter in it entitled “A Look at the Background of Human Rights”. It says, “Originally, people had rights only because of their membership in a group, such as a family. Then, in 539 BC, Cyrus the Great, after conquering the city of Babylon, did something totally unexpected—he freed all slaves to return home. Moreover, he declared people should choose their own religion. The Cyrus Cylinder, a clay tablet containing his statements, is the first human rights declaration in history.” “The idea of human rights spread quickly to India, Greece and eventually Rome. The most important advances since then have included: 1215: The Magna Carta—giving people new rights and making the king subject to the law. 1628: The Petition of Right—setting out the rights of the people. 1776: The United States Declaration of Independence—proclaiming the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. 1789: The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen—in France, stating that all citizens are equal under the law. 1948: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights—the first document listing the thirty rights to which everyone is entitled.” A right is a freedom of some kind. It is something to which you are entitled. Human rights are the rights to which everyone is entitled—no matter who they are or where they live—simply because they are a human being. Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady from 1933 to 1945 and who helped create The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, said in 1948 “Where, after all, do universal human rights begin? In small places, close to home—so close and so small that they cannot be seen on any maps of the world. Yet they are the world of the individual person; the neighborhood he lives in; the school or college he attends; the factory, farm or office where he works. Such are the places where every man, woman and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination. Unless these rights have meaning there, they have little meaning anywhere.”

This is a great example of how Scientology jostles for legitimacy. They do this with their "Narconon" anti-drug front group too; collect a few facts, reassemble them to produce an apparency of expertise and involvement.

The Scientology organization is targeting La Mesa communities, as their new "Ideal Org" is within La Mesa city limits. These clips are from internal docs from Scientology San Diego:
From the President:
Dave Meyer is actively going to city councils in San Diego County and getting them to sign the anti hate petition. This positions us with other organizations on the topic of Human Rights.
"Positions us." Yes, so while Scientology continues with its 50 year history of human rights abuses, it will be "positioned" such that citizens might mistake them for supporters of human rights.

They're also seeking access to your children.
The Church has been invited to join a coalition of community members with the La Mesa Police Department. There are about 24 organizations that handle youth in La Mesa. They have programs to coordinate all the different activities.
If La Mesa wants to be the next cult playground, fine. Do nothing, and let them infiltrate the fabric of your community. If living in a town influenced by Scientology bothers you, do some research and oppose it.
youfoundthecard.org is a good place to start learning about this destructive, hypocritical blight on society.

The UN Declaration of Human Rights is an important document. But the Church of Scientology is one of the biggest VIOLATORS of that document. For shame!

When we lived in Clearwater, Florida, the "mecca" of the Church of Scientology, we were amazed at how disliked Scientologists are in that community. But after a few years it became clear why the residents and long time citizens of that lovely little seaside community would hate them: they owned millions of dollars worth of real estate but paid no taxes on most of it, they bought up businesses along the main drag and made them Scientology friendly only, and they ruthlessly hurt anyone who opposed them. Google Gabe Cazares. He was the mayor of Clearwater when the "church" snuck into town pretending to be something they weren't. When Cazares figured out what was going on and warned his constituents, the "church" went on a smear campaign like nothing you've ever seen. Really disgusting. Do not let them in the door. Do not fall for their front groups. Do not believe that they are harmless and especially do NOT believe that they can help you or your community.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Libra

Someone is shooting from the hip today, making them irascible and all too liable to fly off the handle. Be very wary about provoking them into further outbursts, particularly where the vexed topics of money and sex are concerned. If you're trying to sort out a financial problem you will also be prone to losing your rag and banging your fist on the table. But will that help?
