Former Kling site leased to private school

Heights Christian Junior High, which has used the former Kling Elementary School since June 2001, may be looking for a new home after this school year.

It sounds like the new superintendent of the NLMUSD Ruth Perez just wants to make waves. NLMUSD enrollment is declining and they have no need for this campus. I hope the city of La Mirada does what it can to keep this great school right where it is.

The district needs $$ and needs to liquidate assets. I guess the rental money is not enough. Maybe Heights can purchase the site?

so Ruth saw that the city is making more money than the district on the lease..and wants to lease directly to Heights rather than the city..
...if they're thinking of selling it..they probably would get more money by continuing leasing..

Wonder if they'll continue to let leagues use the fields?!!

Relationship between city and school district has been strained for years. Unfortunate. If they were beter partners, the sommunity would benefit greatly. I mostly blame the city, with its pompous attitude that they can do no wrong. In reality, LM council members are pawns with city manager and God knows why, Myllie Taylor, as their Puppet Masters. It's a puppet government taking advantage of geographical inheritance. They can't make decisions for themselves, or at least it seems that way. Go Gabe Garcia! Bring some change. And,I hope Ruth can finally talk some sense into the Good Ol' Boys (and girl). Don't mess with people from outside of California. They don't go for this patsy, cushy, do-nothing-except-receive-payc hecks-on-the-taxpayers-back, way of life.
