Hello, What don't people understand about illegal? Too bad, but that it is the way it is. So, she cries because she cant cut in front of people who came here through a legal system. If she is so smart, she can go back to her country and make a contribution there.

So, she has been here for 9 years, her parents have not started the long road to become citizens? Wow! this article makes it seem like she is alone. I came here also illegally at age 11, BUT, my parents decided to start the long road, several thousands dollars worth of legal fees, many nights waiting from 2am until 3pm downtown L.A., several drives to Tijuana staying at less then desirable hotels to again, wait for hours to be seen. But, 3 years later, we (rather my parents) did it. Since then we have NEVER received welfare or food stamps. So as much as I hate to say it, those tears dont mean much, I did not have the money to continue my education so I joined the military. So blame her parents NOT the system.

Here's a suggestion, PUT your Jr. ROTC Experience to work and join a branch of the US Military! SERVE the COUNTRY that has PAID for your education thus far. EARN your college tuition, and BECOME a US CITIZEN!

she really has a 3.09 the 4.09 is based on a 5.0 scale. for everyone used to the 4.0 scale, its a 3.09. oh for the issue. well thats life. i am pretty sure that there are comments saying how she should go back to mexico. i respect that. but what makes me mad is that people who are from other countries want to get an education and be something is this country. people born here really do not care and want things handed to them. so instead of deporting the person that can help this country, wouldnt it be better to deport the american born citizens who really care less and stand in the welfare lines saying that they are entitled to free money or high pay without an education? this is my 2ยข CAD. its worth more than USD

Maybe Mexico will back her student loan? Joining the military would be a great idea! Serve two years for a green card? Bet they would probably throw in the G.I. bill! I tip my hat to "Clean up Moreno Valley". Hard work pays off if you want something bad enough. Don't feel too bad, though. I'm a citizen and I can't afford to go to Berkeley either. An associate's degree from community college is going to have to do. Don't think I'm gonna cry about it though.

I agree with everyone. I'm a recent graduate and a American who had to work hard and apply for a loan to get through college, I couldn't get financial aid. It sucks that illegals get financial aids and now are taking over our jobs.

I believe you can exceed 4.0 on a 4.0 scale if you take honors courses. Does that automatically make it a 5.0 scale?

Doesn't Mexico have good universities? I'm sorry, I feel for her, but have little compassion. My future wife is a foreign national and will have to jump through a lot of hoops to get her citizenship. Bermudians are more American then they are British, but that's just the way it is. I have no compassion for those who "cut" and still get benefits the wrong way

She has been so busy with school work and planning her education for years she didn't have time to become legal to finalize her dream? C'mon, she STILL has options. Just qquit looking for the free handouts.
However she looks like a fantastic candidate for the US taxpayer pool. START FILING THOSE FORMS GIRL! No! Not the ones free tuition or welfare!

A brain is a terrible thing to waste, but a law is a law. If everybody wants a law to be catered to their own benefit, then it's no longer a law. My friend's family got turned down by the Immigration Authorities when he did not meet the required legal conditions. They were here legally. They were not collecting any welfare from the Government. They pay their own medical expenses. They paid for their own rentals. He is the owner of a company in his own country. He prepared all his income information to verify that he is not going to be dependent on the US Gov. The only thing he did (to be refused legal Permanent Status) was that the ICE department was not satisfied. They had to leave the country within 30 days, which they did last year and they paid their own travelling expenses. What gives the illegals the rights to assumed that their sob stories would be enough to BREAK the law to suit them. To all the so-called 'human-rights' or 'civil-rights' advocates, remember, when a law is broken, whoever did it do not get rewarded. I know it is a concept that you do not grasp, but if you do a hand-stand once in a while, you may get enough brain matters to flow back to your head to figure it out. For every illegal alien allowed to do whatever they want, one legal PR or citizen is denied of HIS/HER rights!!!!!!

If you "feel American...", then you understand the two things that set Americans apart from other people-groups: our respect for the law, and the understanding that those who obey the law are the ones entitled to the benefits of our great country. If you have a problem, and feel that "...things were out of your control...", then either sue your parents for child endangerment (obviously, if you're crying, you feel like you're in some sort of painful turmoil), or go back to where your parents came from, and change the laws THERE. I'd like to be more compassionate about this, but Americans already granted amnesty to illegal aliens 20 years ago...all it got us was lots more illegal aliens, and WAY deeper into a debt we can't afford. American children are starving, going without clothes and getting cut backs in education...Why? So YOU could have a better chance than OUR posterity? What's right about THAT? I don't see you crying for OUR children. Sorry, but since you don't feel feel sorry for taking food and rights from OUR own children, I fail to see why we need to protect anything that you (wrongfully) consider to be yours.

How come people still don't get it? The point here is that anyone who enters into the country illegally do not get rewarded. They have committed a crime. If everyone commits a crime and then get rewarded, then why put others through all the red-tape of getting into the US legally. The US government sure can cut cost without the Immigration people. How come the headline does not say ' Girl who came to U.S. legally can't get loans ' That would not be news worthy. Why?

It is stories like this that really anger me. There are plenty of legal citizens up here that cannot get loans to complete their educations even tho they have good grades so why are we supposed to feel sorry for her because she cannot get a loan. Her family must have known that unless you are a legal citizen you cannot get loans so why did they not apply for citizenship papers for her if their dream was for her to go to college, or did they think that we would just have the welfare office and the politicians pay for her to go to school. Come on, lets get real. There are laws that have to be enforced and what is fair for one is fair for all.

So many of these illegals study political science. It is the stepping stone to law school, they then use our own laws to pursue a course of promoting more of their own kind, twisting and spinning the laws that were not written to promote the stealth theft of our country. Such as the anchor baby abuse that allows pregnant latinas to cross the border illegally and use our medical facilities free of charge on the tax payers back to birth the hordes of ninos and then claim the legal right to remain in the U.S. Make no mistake this is an attempt to steal this nation for Mexico and the Mexicans. Vote for those who put our interests and our citizens first. If I must obey our laws , why does the federal government not demand the same of the millions of illegal latinos? One more time vote accordingly, you owe it to your grandparents and your grandchildren.
