When a canine bites, it is showing lack of respect and considers itself the dominant one in the household. Any canine who takes it upon itself to elevate its position in the home also puts itself in the position to lose such standing. No one should allow any canine to maintain such position. Unfortunately, this canine, being of small stature, did not live to learn its lesson.

While you are correct, I've been bitten by chihuahuas before - it doesn't hurt enough to fatally punch it (or punch it at all)- it's extremely easy for someone of moderate reflexes to just grab its face and muzzle it with their hand. This guy had an agenda and wanted to kill that dog.

Cesar - I know it's not really you, but whoever you are, thanks for the lulz!

Sounds like this dog bit out of fear which is the #1 reason for dog bites. The firefighters reaction was excess, would he do the same to a child or person out of "reaction" people who abuse animals tend to abuse people. PUNCHING a dog is plain abuse! And a chihuahua for goodness sake come on. Here's his opportunity to show some character and admit it was a mistake but that will never happen with a testosterone filled animal abuser.

How do you get your vibes, through newspaper print? You should be working for a circus but then maybe you are.

While a lot of speculations have been tossed around, let me do a little myself. Take your canine and hold him in a loving manner. Is he close to your face? Now take the same canine and imagine he may bite your face. Are you holding him down, close to the ground? Maybe at hip level? This human did not imagine he would be bitten in the face. He had this canine up, perhaps ready for a lick, but instead, got a bite. He could not have had any agenda. While we try to treat animals as though they are "little people" everyone should remember they will always be animals.
