Suspect in La Habra robbery turns self in

A driver sought in a purse snatching surrendered to police hours after her passenger was shot and killed by a retired deputy.

This retired deputy had to do the job for La Habra Police Department in chasing this person.
This is the usual type of response in La Habra, try and even see a La Habra patrol car in this little town day or night!
Unless you are driving by their police station or the bar on Whittier Blvd. they are no where to be seen. And if you call to report a small crime plan on waiting a long time for them to show up and when they do expect a rude response or "I'm the macho better than you attitude" from the cop.
Look at yesterdays pictures and look at the one cop with his gun strapped down like an old west gunfighter! 75% of the La Habra cops have this macho attitude towards you the citizen unless, you live in the "better" part of town (North of Whittier Blvd.)
La Habra Police Department is even laughed at by other Orange County Departments for being so un-responsive and unprofessional towards its own citizens.

Sure he has the right to pursue and DEFEND himself using deadly force if needed, which is what he needed.

La Habra PD can't be everywhere all the time. Just be thankfull that there was a retired law enforcement officer there to handle business and take a thug of the streets. This POS will not be able to Rob anyone elses Mom, sister or daughter, including mine.

He was not an Off-duty cop, he was RETIRED. The purse snatcher was feeling and the jerk with the gun chased him down and shot him. There are shopping centers and a school in and around that area and I find it irresponsible for the man to have been shooting. He'll probably get away with MURDER as many of LHPD, active or otherwise, officers have done.

La Habra PD was very responsive and professional on more than one time when I've called them, and I live south of Whittier Blvd. What is your source from the other OC Depts?

Try not to forget a crime was committed when this suspect snached the purse.

thats bllsht this retired cop has no right to be judge n jury, what if your kids are out and there is some type of dispute and he decides your kid is wrong and blows his brains out, i bet you will change your opinion quicker than that punk was shot

This all happened in front of young kids. I live here and thank god my kids were not outside. 2 yound kids were outsied there apartment when this happened. the kids were not even 20 feet behind the suspect. What if this RETIRED cop missed the suspect and hit one of these kids. They are good friends of my 10 year out daughter and they seen it all. The suspect pointed the "gun" at the "officer" and then the shotting began. My Second thought is that the "officer" had his wife with him. I would not put my wife in danger for a purse. He had already called the police he could have let them deal with it. I dont like dirt bags like this on the street but I think this could have been handled differently.

I would find it irresponsible if the retired officer didn't shoot this guy. Let's analyze what happened again: This guy commited a felony theft. Chose to run. When told they were being ordered by an off-duty officer to surrender they didn't. Pulled out a gun, and the rest is history. This perp and people like him are a plague on society and terrorize are communities.

It played out they way it was supposed to.
