Can anyone share their experience with a straight talk android phone? I was thinking about buying one, but was curious about the phone quality and reception.
Thanks

Works great. Real good reception. That's the pros, now the cons is battery life is short.

Thank you. Are you able to use tethering apps on your phone?

Bad thing about straight talk is that even though they say unlimited data it's really not. Once you get past 2GB they either slow your data or stop it all together so tethering with a straight talk android isn't really a good thing.

That's what I was wondering. Any body's "unlimited" isn't really unlimited.

Mine - That's good to hear.

My head hurts - hmmmmmmm. I've got a bricked vortex, an x2, and currently a galaxy s3. What is the process on getting a Verizon phone switched to straight talk?

Can only port over AT&T phones or GSM phones that take a sim card. Verizon is CDMA and can't be ported over, but can be used with page plus.

I have been with Straight Talk for 2 years now. Most of their android phones run off sprint, which isn't that great. However they are introducing Verizon and AT&T Android phones, one of which is the Samsung Galaxy S2. Which is a great great phone. I use the Bring Your Own Phone plan, and use a AT&T Android with one of their sims. To the guy that said it's not unlimited, I use about 5 to 6 GB a month tethering, streaming movies, etc. and never had an issue with data capping or disconnecting. One month I did use about 9GB and recieved an e-mail that I was using too much data. But as long as I stay around the 5 to 6GB a month I am fine.

Like I said their data service isn't entirely unlimited that's all I was saying. I have had straight talk before and it's a good service and they are finally introducing some decent phones and the bring your own phone plan is definitely the way to go.

Hi, I've been with straight talk for a full month and purchased their galaxy s2 on their $45/no unlimited plan (that "no" was actually a typo but it pretty much sums up the plan). The phone itself is great,I was going to get the iPhone 4 they recently started offering on their network and you just can't compare it to the s2 IMO. That being said I've had my issues with straight talk, mainly in the data area of their plan. As you probably already know a good smartphone requires some data to get full functionality out of out. Had it going for about 2 weeks without a hitch then my data slowed to a crawl on everything but the Web browser. So I call them up a was told I used too much data so they had throttled me and speed would be normal when I add another card to the phone. Have yet to find out if that's true, they didn't even give me a warning. Thing is I didn't even use 1GB in that 2 week period and they say that's to much, on a Android smartphone, that they sell. That equates out to a worse deal than the $30 cards data that they also sell. It also varies person to person apparently, some people get slowed down at below 1GB, some can go 8GB and beyond without so much as a call from them. However the call quality is great, and texts go in and out lightning fast, they DO allow you to download apps off of the play store, they are unlimited when it comes to calling, texting, mobile Web browser, Facebook, gmail, the basics you would use minus any app that streams audio or video. That's about the just of my experience with them, overall its not bad, not great either follow the TOS and use WI-FI whenever available or when downloading big files and streaming media you should be fine.

The fact they have verizon capability is great - but that's pretty much it. Their phones are slow as in internet speed - every one Ive ever purchased w straight talk was very slow internet. Only pro was call quality.
I have switched to boost mobile they run off sprint and have super fast internet, don't buy anything less than an operating system on lesser than 4.0 ice cream sandwich. The gingerbread OS sux.
