I am not even going to get into the drama on the other thread.
What I'd like to know is, has anybody ordered him a headstone yet?
As I understand he was buried at Powell Valley Cem. I think they only use the flat stones.

My proposal is people go to Laf Monument and anonymously donate money and have them earmark it to go toward the minimum expense for people to give him a proper headstone.
I have no doubt the people there will do the right thing and put him a stone up.

A lot of us did not hear about Wesley til right at the end and that is so very sad. But I will be taking a donation even if I can only afford 5 dollars, if everyone could give 5 dollars to the laf monument I am sure that once enough is donated they will for sure place him a stone being as his situation was so sad.

My mother was buried there last fall. Some parts of the cemetery use the flat stone, others use the stand up. Very nice man running it; he donated Wesley's plot. You have to wait a few months to put up a stone to allow for the grave to settle. I like your idea. I will definitely donate.

You're the drama queen on the other thread--who you think you're kidding! You're won't donate crap--you're just trying to start another thread like the other one. What is wrong with you? Everyone watch this develop like I'm predicting.

Excuse me? I have read the other thread and I think it is useless to keep arguing so I think a more specific request or something should be asked so we can actually get something done. "Sure" I am sorry you think this thread is like that. I hope that no one makes it that way. This thread is about helping Wesley get a headstone nothing more.

He died of cancer. I am sure churches could also take up money to donate toward his stone. I also trust the monument co more than I would just donating to an individual you know?
yes sure

Predict away. You should know how it will go because AS USUAL your just a common no life society reject troll that goes online simply to accomplish disrupting, and trying to derail threads that have anything to do with INTELLIGENT people talking, and God forbid, try to get a clear understanding of a situation, and as far as THIS thread goes ** Gasp!!*, TRY TO ORGANIZE SOMETHING TO HELP SOMEONE IN NEED.
Take your ignorant obnoxious attention needy, need to MAKE drama issues, to a mental health facility, ok? Or is that what's pissed you off? You need help to get to one, and are afraid to ask? Can't say I blame you. lol

NOW...

Where is this the name/location of this headstone/monument place, and if anyone has already contacted them to start this 'direct fundraiser'(??.. don't know what else to call it) is there someone in particular to ask for to speak with about this? Owner, manager name?? I would like to donate towards this, but will need to do so with payment over the phone, or if they even accept phone payment.. if not, then location for in-person (it will just have to be at a later date).

Will check back later....

Okay... I'm looking in the CC Yellow Pages, under "Monuments", and not seeing "LaFollette Monument Co." Just the following:

Jellico Monument Co.- Hwy 25., in Jellico

Summers and Son - Main St., Jacksboro

Woodlawn Cemetary - Fleet Bldg, LaFollette

(???)

yes it was cancer. i can't remember if in the obit it said he was affiliated with a church. does anyone else? if it said, then maybe we should start with calling that church and ask them if they've started something towards it already with a headstone company, and with which one if they did. if they have then just donate to that one. could u imagine if they did and no one knows it then others started a donate thing with a different stone co's then all of a sudden one day we see 3 dif headstones out there?? wow. lol

oh and 'curious' dont start a email thing the nasty trolls will just read it on here and slam your inbox with spam just like they do on here so no one else can get through and u just have to let go the email acct. disgusting, but there ya have it - fair warning.

let's just try to keep it going on here - start another if a toxic topix troll requests it deleted. frightening how there's such sad and small people that just live to get on here to destroy anything good trying to happen or have discussions about anything that NEEDS to be discussed by a community... the TRUTH about ugly situations, online or off.

WE CAN DO THIS. Just INFO please!:)

Oh boy. Just received a call from Powell Cem. The gentleman called to tell me that after speaking with me, he called someone, trying to find out info also, that had told him that there is already something set up at LaF Monument Co. for Wes's stone. I asked him if he they had said it was set up by DCS, and he replied, ".. no...something about the middle school that he had attended, and a few others (people)...", so called me to let me know that. I told him about my convo with DCS, so he asked me for the case workers number so that he could let them know the same thing.

So NOW the update is: LaF Monument already has an 'acct' set up for people to donate to for his marker. Thing is now (just personally wondering, and the gentleman from Powell said the same time I did on the phone. lol) "Uh oh. Now what... If DCS comes through with a marker, what of the marker that is already being donated towards? He said the man that owns LaF. Mon. Co will not make two, that they are very reputable but that SOMEbody needs to get organized (to which I agreed, and told him that's what I was trying to see my way through when I had called him earlier.

SO he is now contacting DCS to let them know of what LaF Mon. Co.

I guess there was no way of knowing that DCS was already on it.... or trying... so same as before,'wait and see'. Just thought I'd update is all.

And, sorry "Curious". I dont 'do' FB. Never have, never will. I'll just check/update on this thread as mentioned before... sorry.

I will update here as well and ty for that info. I will call them and see what is going on. Only thing I had heard thus far is about the school, not DCS.

The good news is that something is being done and nobody is arguing and bickering. This county has some good folk in it afterall!
good stuff

The donations will go on as planned. Still waiting to hear about the school plan. Not sure of that yet

I also spoke with David at the cemetery. The headstone must be flat and according to Laf Monument they have a lovely black stone with gold engraving for 600.00
