I was just wondering if there were any charities that are helping needy familys provide christmas items for their children. If you all have any places that could help I would greatly appreciate it.

Ask those other kids if their parents, siblings, and family members loved them enough to invest their personal time and creativity to MAKE them something themselves. Kids are seriously off the chain these days, and disgusting behavior and attitude on behalf of their parents that Christmas is about competing with what someone else affords at the store to BUY off the meaning of Christmas.

Back in the day (and, no we weren't broke) we used to MAKE things for each other for/as Chirstmas presents. Those are things that carry far more important messages and ties to and about LOVE then anything store bought. "Custom" made, tailored to the personality and meaning of the person you make the gift for - with YOUR personality, and THOUGHT.

It costs very little monetarily, but loads in labors of love. Too "expensive" these days, apparently. Goes a fair stretch towards curbing ENTITLEMENT ISSUES, and competition of "keeping up with the Jones's" to boot.

Back in the day when Christmas, and valuing relationships had MEANING. Shame that's gone away. Depressing.

VALUE what the person means to you and having them in your life, and why. NOT value what MONEY can buy.

Trivia: The woman that made "Barney" was broke. She wanted to buy something for her child, and couldn't afford it. She had a purple scrap of material and MADE Barney. Another parent was so impressed, and the child of all the things (not much, but a few, that the mother had at one time been able to afford to get her) she CHERISHED her purple dino so many of her school friends parents saw her with it, and asked about it.

BOOM. "Barney" was born. How cool is that! The woman is now a mega multi-millionaire.

Same a the author of Harry Potter series. SHE wrote the first book while herself and child were living in a SHELTER! Simply pen and paper, and LOVE for her child and NEED. She started writing for her child to have something to read and to keep herself DEstressed, and wrote also for escapism from the horrible circumstances they were surrounded by. Someone picked up her first "Harry Potter" and read it and was blown away. NO one was more surprised then the author, as her INTENT wasn't the least to write anything worthy of publishing.... she was just LOVING HER CHILD with literally ALL she had without so much as two cents to BUY it - and, now look.

Extreme examples, but yeah... keep your NOSE where it belongs (in your own business taking care of your own), and your heart where your children NEED it to be (with and for them first and foremost), and Christmas ENTITLEMENT ISSUES will cease to exist. Imagine that.

Get a clue. Love them, and TEACH them what the HEART is about, and the bragging of what their "friends" got on Christmas morning will fall on deaf ears. If anything, PITY those "friends".

What kind of friend BRAGS to a friend that they perfectly well know the family is financially too strapped to afford the cold commercial Christmas THEY got, anyway? You need to teach your kids how to choose better friends. Or are they getting that whining materialistic attitude from YOU, first...

Why be so heart less about a subject like this? Not everyone in the world has extra money, even if they are working one or multiple jobs. Peoples hours get cut, or they are laid off. Why would you put a poor, needy family down like that? That was uncalled for, honestly. How would you like it if you child and/or grandchildren had to wake up Christmas morning without anything to open? How would you feel if you didn't have any money due to hours cut back at work, only enough money to pay bills with and get food? Just think about that, what would you do if you didn't have a lot of money and you needed help? What if?

Hey listen just pointing out facts! If it piss some off oh well I remember getting a pair of socks and a pack of jacks and a stocking of nuts and a orange and it was great! It is not about a kid waking up and not having a toy get real teach the meaning of it if you want to do something for your children take them to the mission and let them help out over there and you might find that they would get more outta that in place of a toy that will end up in a closet in a few days after it has passed. And like I said if you want that toy for them have your Internet cut off and instead of pissing that money away save what u would spend and next year you will have plenty for little Johnny that toy you was looking for someone else to pay for.

I am a single mother as well, and I pay for EVERYTHING on my own. It makes me sick when they have a giveaway for the needy and you can't see the people in line for all of the smoke! If people would do without their cigs, beer, and drugs maybe just maybe they would have money to buy their children something! If you know you can't afford to raise 1 child then why have anymore for my tax dollars to pay for? Im sure you get tenncare so take the damn birthcontrol pills or keep your legs closed one! I barely have $200 left from my paychecks to buy what we need everymonth, but I started buying Christmas presents in July so I wouldn't be broke and I could pay my own way! THINK AHEAD! I don't get foodstamps, tenncare, or any other government assistance (even though I could) and yes it is hard. I simply refuse to be a lazy bum who thinks a hard days work is getting out of bed, walking to the mail box, and getting a check out! and another thing that pisses me off more than anything is when I'm in line at the grocery store (praying that I don't go over and sorting my coupons) I have to stand in line for an hour while some skank hoe in front of me is buying $200 worth of soda, and 20 packs of lithium batteries stashed in her kids diper bag, to exchange for meth with foodstamps (i.e. MY MONEY!!!!). So no it's not a lack of sympathy, it's not feeling sorry for people who don't want to help themselves!!!!! IF IT IS IMPORTANT YOU WILL MAKE A WAY, IF IT IS NOT YOU WILL MAKE EXCUSES!!!!
