all these jobs gone for good employees (and families) are left with nothing and more so at the end of the year when the holidays are close.
all the local route drivers and the local store clerks are all out of work thanks to lies told by union officials to the hostess employees.
not only hostess brands but the walmart brand of breads and some other baked goods are gone too since they were produced in Knoxville at the Hostess/Merita plant.

To all the employees affected....God Bless you and your families. May the sun shine on you soon.

I believe most of this county and the state of Tennessee voted for Romney.

Find it interesting everyone that voted for Obama think he's doing anything good, only for those that can get a check without working, when Hostess goes belly up that's a bad sign. Obama saves the car industry but won't do anything to protect hostess? They do not just make junk food, the also do nature granola bars.

But.....but....but...Hostess is bad for you. Obama is doing you a favor by not bailing them out.
I find it funny they step in and throw thier weight around in anything else that has a damaging strike. But not Hostess.
That's 18,500 jobs that went bye bye and about 50,000 more added to welfare and assistance programs if you include the workers and household family members.

The company will restructure and open back up with new employees. The union screwed all those people that lost their jobs.

lol yeah, the rest of us are wrong? Looking at that "edjumicated" post by the above really answers that question. It's simple math and accounting why we are in the situation we are in and why these businesses are shutting down. These businesses also daily pay out profits to charities, they employ workers (those that actually want to work), and when the government gets involved in private business they must do what they have to, close down or lower benefits. That's how it's always been and should be. We aren't supposed to be socialists, USA fought against that for the entire cold war, and look at the countries that followed it. Simply, Russia followed this behavior and when the wall fell things changed, but continued repercussions. Russian men have short lives, risky behavior, depression, alcoholism, feelings of no future. We want this for ourselves? Heck no!

can't figure out why everyone is blaming Obama for everything when he isn't a dictator. Just because he is the president doesn't mean that he can just say something and deem it so. The House is mostly republicans. If Obama comes up with an idea and sets it out on the table the Republicans are just going to vote against it, especially if it isn't in their conservative best interests (saving them money or making their wallets fatter) And again, what I can't understand about this area and other areas that primarily voted for Mitt Romney is that everyone around here is mostly poor. Republican Party does not have poor people or working people in their best interests at all. They are for the upper middle class and the rich.
That being said, a union CAN NOT control a company. The Union is a mediator BETWEEN the company and the employees. From what I have read about Hostess, as a company, there was a LOT of mismanagement going on and right before the strike and closure, the CEO gave himself a 300% raise. Go figure. The Union CAN NOT step in and say "hey, you WILL do this or else" to that company. The company can do a counter offer and that is how they bargain. Not that the Union isn't completely without fault. There are good Unions and there are bad Unions. The company was mismanaged from the top down and as a result, the workers that made the company are suffering with the loss of their jobs while the CEO and top level execs make out like a bandit. Another good example of a good company gone bad is Walmart. Walmart is having serious problems from the top down right now and Unions are trying to step in as a result.

This is all misinformation that was being spread by the union. The company is and has been under bankruptcy for a while. The company cannot give raises to anyone or spend money outside that of which the bankruptcy court gives them permission to. The raises would have went thru court and a judge will not grant such an increase in wages if a company is in Chapter 11.
The union is at fault here. The BCT union gave alot of wrong information to the employees they represent and bargain for. They only want Hostess to get new owners. They tell their members that with new owners things will be better. In fact the "new" owners can select who they rehire. They do not have to rehire any of the Hostess employees if they choose not too. Just like if things are worked out and IBC/Hostess stays in business the workers who went on strike are not garaunteed a job or unemployment. Thanks to the BC&T Union leadership. These hard working people may have hurt themselves for the unions own agenda.

do you realize that Obamacare was turned down, they forced it to happen. He did not follow the process of making it law. That's why so many people consider it unconstitutional.

If I recall, he used a loophole to get it through. If I can recall that correctly? When you are playing with conservatives that are looking out for their own interests, then I would look for a loophole also.
As for Obamacare, it's been a long time coming. And all I can say, is if a few small business are shut down because of it, then oh well, those business owners should have better planned for these kinds of issues.
Too be frankly callous, I have worked in the service sector for much of my life and I have made min. wage and watched the top level managers and execs in the companies I've worked for get rich off my sweat. While they wine and dine on 5,000 Champaign, I worry about how I'm going to pay my rent and where I'm going to get help for my Dr. visits because I'm not offered insurance. Most of these business owners are built off a model of greed. Who cares about the low level employee that you use to get you the profit, just as long as you can buy that 450,000 house or enjoy that vacation in the Bahamas? Right?
The healthcare sector is the worst for greed and overspending IMO. A nurse that does nothing but sit on his/her butt all day and read does not need to be making 22.00 an hour. And before you call me out on that, I've known several LPN private duty nurses that have made that much and more to basically sit with a person. Occasionally they may have to do more, such as give a dosage or change something, but really? 20 + an hour. That's insanity! And it's what's wrong with the whole screwed up mess that we call our healthcare system presently.
Obamacare may not be the best plan/model for the USA, but at least it's a step in an actual direction for some sort of reform on Healthcare.
