You see it all the time on TV. With it becoming more and more popular I was wondering if we have any real moonshiners in Campbell Co. I've been doing some research and have heard some fun stories but no shine. I probably will not get a response to this but it worth a try. I would love to hear the tales and maybe even meet some of the people my kin made shine with.

"You see it all the time on TV"??? Um, no... not really. As a matter of fact, never. I know I've seen the show title "Moonshine" (or, "Moonshiners"?) while channel surfing, but actually think it'd be anything even remotely interesting to tune into??? No. Not by a long shot. Oh, and "more and more popular"?? Where did you hear that the "Deliverance" lifestyle was becoming more popular? Lately, if ever?? LOL

The thought alone is disturbing enough. lol. Is one of your family talents also champion pig squealing? Rhetorical of course. LOL

What a small person you are. By the way, when you try to say you have feelings associated with nausea, it's called nauseated. Take some college comp classes, or at least get a Harbrace before you get on here and beclown yourself. There most assuredly is a program about moonshine. It's not particularly good, but it does exist...as a cursory web search could have told you. Instead you project your backwoods fantasy on others who just asked a simple question. Go screw yourself.

My grandfather made shine back in the old days. I guess it has been 40 years ago. He died about a year ago. Mom would tell me stories about it. She said it was scary when the police would come. They hid it in the woods in tree stumps and under leaves. I wish I had some to make me a hot tottie. The moonshine you get at the liquor store is nothing like homemade..

yes there is a show called moonshiner and there is also a movie that was just released called Lawless about moonshiners! If you have not seen or heard of this maybe you are backwoods. But, this is getting way off the topic I am asking about! I am not on here looking for moonshine! I am doing research about my family and other moonshine families and would like stories from other families about any ancestors that made or ran moonshine. It is just an interesting topic to me. My family was poor and they did what they had to do to survive, not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. I guess if champion pig squealing made them enough money to feed their children they would have done that too. You make it sound like there is something wrong with my southern roots, but it wasn't just southerners who made a living bootlegging, How do you think John F. Kennedy's family made their fortune? Anyway the "backwoods" people you stick your nose up at were pretty dang smart and have some really great stories! that is what this discussion is about.

To JD Pike; good luck on your quest. It's so nice to read comments from someone who isn't on here just to show their ignorance.
