Looking to buy a home in a year?I am 25 years old and I have bad credit. I have numerous items in collection due to irresponsability during my younger years. I have never had a reposession or declared bankrupcy but my credit isn't good enough to get a credit card. I want to start working on building my credit up by paying on the things I owe starting now. My goal is to be in my own home or be very close to it by next Christmas. How should I go about this? Should I get a credit report and start paying on the items I owe, or should I go see an advisor? Are advisors very expensive? Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
