For one thing your are wrong about CHurchill. If you did the final walk through you would of got your deposit back like we did, take them to small claims court your wasting more money and yes along with the Koetjes they run the town. Complain all you want but your the one who lost the money and reread your lease, you will find out that you signed and they have control over what you did not read.
obviously a small town member.

I happen to know when we took someone to small claims court that there's nary a judge on the island that hasnt done business and know george personally, they had to call in a lawyer wanna be judge now any lawyer wanna be w/ any hope of achieving judgeship isnt gonna go against george just because of Judge Churchill, or he never see that black robe think about it. We did what we were told to do by the VFW volunteer law people and we got so so screwed and all our duckswere in a row and we told the truth and when G.C and his cohort had their say purgery was flying every where. he even had paperwork that wasnt ffilledout or signed and got the chevron gas company to write out a false statement he's got so much power. We are royally f'ed when we move outta here, the first place unseen was unsafe it was GC that moved us out of there fast and acted like all was goof after less then 30 there. but when we moved in there wad a scum on the hard wood floor we got blamed for it when we left an food on the wall that i scraped off and spot painted but the woman was old island family and got her full dep back we weere charged for a fireplace cleaning n a full move out even tho we never used the fireplace in less then 30 days, he moved us out it was his idea and theen denied that was a fact. we ended up paying 150 a month for a year because he promised to transfer our original deposit to the safe place second one and lied. i just figure we are screwed. last place we lived over two years andd got our whoe 1000 bucks back and he stole our money after 30 days and got away wht it using a wanna be judge who wouldnt dare blow his chance with jude churchill at wearing the black robe. think about it. nice lady or noti have no clue but the system onn the island aint gonna butt heads when their selfishness is at stake. as far as GC goes karma does work.everywhere i go i see it after i get screwed i ask god why annd know that karma wiht happen god is in charge ad ddoesnt like thieves add liars and GC was lately in a terrible wreck on the streeyt alone lost control of car and almost died. pretty bad wrect but anyone wiiht any knowledge off drinking can 'guess' he was under the influence. duh. karma does happen but true we keep getting screwed.

Can't comment on your encounter with the rental agency but Judge Churchill is a darn fine judge and nice lady (but I wouldn't want to piss her off).
Also, she has nothing to do with small claims, that would be a municipal court jurisdiction.

If you ever have a legal problem or case that requires going against one of the locals (good ol boys, "the Dutch Mafia"), you will never win. No matter if the law is on your side, there is no law here but their law. Washington State Law does not count here. The judges, lawyers, and locals are all in on it. Corruption, that so far, no one has been able to stop. They change court transcripts so everything looks legal. This all runs very deep.

Yes, don't do business with them. Churchill has terrible customer service and they will make sure you pay on time, but when it is their turn to pay you back your deposit you will be waiting a long time. Their reason for being late was that the person that dealt with my rental was fired a few weeks ago, but this is apparently not the first time..... Unfortunately, they can do whatever they like since the have the local legal system in their pocket.

Churchill is awful! I'm sure people have had good experiences working with small property owners through Churchill (and yay for them!) but that does not mean everyone will have the same experience as you!!
Time for our story, I suppose.

My partner and his 2 roommates rented a duplex from Churchill for 6 months. First of all, the rental had fairly obviously not been cleaned by the company/previous renters before we moved in because the place was a total mess. The floors/carpets were all dirty and stained, the oven was broken, etc etc.
We did a full walkthrough, took pictures of everything, and were extremely thorough in writing down everything that was wrong with the place.
Immediately after they turned on the water a pipe burst in the upstairs bathroom and they had to cut a huge hole in the living room ceiling to access it. Churchill left that gaping hole in the ceiling for 4 out of the 6 months we lived there even after we repeatedly asked them to come and fix it. Even then they only patched the area, didn't bother to retexture or paint it.
Also, the dial on our oven was not attached properly (we would turn it off and it did not actually turn off). We put in a maintenance order and did not hear back. We pretty much had to harass them to get them to come do any work. Some one finally came and "fixed" it-replaced the dial but not the connection. The next day the coils in the oven exploded. TALK ABOUT A SAFETY HAZARD!
We asked for a new oven that wouldn't potentially cause a fire while we were sleeping (which would be especially bad since they didn't put batteries in the smoke detectors either) and they just replaced the coils instead.

I could go on and on about the problems we've had with them. We were very respectful while renting from them, didn't make a mess, no noise complaints-lease just ended and we definitely did NOT renew it.
Cleaned the place top to bottom when we moved out and were only charged for minor things. Roomate accidentally left some food in the freezer which is understandable.
However, Churchill charged us almost $200 to transfer water...which we had already paid/done ourselves with the city. We went to the city to tell them we had been double billed (by them and Churchill) and they said Churchill had never paid! So Churchill is trying to charge us for a bill that they never paid for us.
