The dog should be put to sleep, but the owner is terribly irresponsible for having two little girls walk him. He or she should be punished too. I really love dogs, so this makes me sad. You have to wonder if this was a dog used in dogfighting or something.Poor girls. It is just an awful thing to have happen.

This is a perfect example of animals nearly having more rights than human beings these days.

WTF? The dog is the owner's responsibility. Are you filing charges against the dog? The idiot owner should have never let two little girls walk this HUGE ( and likely known to be viscious) dog.

yes it is wrong that they got hurt by the dog.
but dont assume the dog should be put down.
has anyone questioned why the dog mauled the girl
there are people out to train dogs to stop being aggresive.
im sorry but when humans hurt people like getting stabbed and stuff. they dont get killed
animals have rights.
stop being so horrible

I think that the "second girl", who was less severely injured, is a HERO for pulling Amanda away from the dog. She saved Amanda from worse injury or certain death. I believe she should get some kind of award, reward, and/or recognition for her heroic act!

Anybody that has a pet dog and lives with it every day, would you ever think something like this would happen to you? I'm sure the owners of this dog never thought something like this would ever happen. This is a terrible thing that happened but the owners of the dog would have never put the girls lives in danger if they knew this could happened.

I think you should go see the girl in the hospital, the one who got bitten. See her every day, and spend all your time thee. Yep, that's what you need to do.
