my husband and i have two adopted daughters that are african american. friends of ours want us to go camping at knoebels. we live in NJ and have never been to knoebels . I was wondering if there are african american families that go to knoebels amusement park. my husband and i are both white and we often get looks from " not so classy people" when we are at predominately white areas. We do not want our daughters to be uncomfortable so that is why i am asking if there ever are black people at knoebels or the campground.
thank you so much to anyone who can answer my question.

I am from NJ also. I grew up in Hackensack and Passaic Park. I moved into this area to Open a Business. I Bought a Home here (Which are REALLY CHEEP.) compared to NJ. I'm an African American Man. Early 50's. Ex Military (SF). I find the people in this area to be either Really Nice. Or REALLY RACIST. Unlike Truth stated. There are LOTS of people with racist 60's mentalities. However, I'm seeing More and More interracial Couples AND Children. Mostly Young Couples. But it seems the Grandparents are excepting of their "Biracial" Children. I'm not sure if being Cautious is a good Idea or not. It seems the area IS going through a Racial/Social awakening. This area is one of the few remaining White Racial Bubbles created during the early years of social segregation in America. However, Because of The Young, it seems to be changing rapidly into a more Multicultural region. A lot of the old beliefs are dying with the old. But some still linger. I haven't been to knoebels. or, The Campground there. Because, I believe parks of this nature are for Families, and My kids are grown and I'm divorced. And as a father I wouldn't want single adults hanging around my kids in that environment. But any way, I don't feel the people in this area will harm you in the Park. It seems Americans from all over the country go there. It's just a very few of the locals when you're not in the park that will do the stare thing. I hear it's nice. However, I'll leave the choice to you. But if you decide to go there I hope your experience is a Fun one with LOTS of happy memories. Good Luck in your decision... P.S. JMO...

You asked if black families go to the park
I don't normally count black people
But I do remember seeing a black family once and thinking wow are they the only ones here, I wonder if they are comfortable with that?
But I also remember going and feeling over dressed in a button down shirt and slacks
Dress code here is hulk hogan t shirt ,zoobras
That aside it is the best amusement park for a young family , free admit free parking and most kiddie rides are under 1.50 and the food is ok
Never felt unsafe and the stuff about how nice the employees are is absolutely true
I know I'm going at least once this summer
