Mike '25 pct Welsh' Nelson is 100 pct on the wrong side of 'Dictionary 101,' and unless locally educated should know that Corky's use of the common noun reflected on one backing out of a debt or bet, not, as Nelson whines, in an ethnic sense. But Nelson does know this. Just having a bad hair day, and an abundance of righteous indignation to help him moan through the day. It's the aloha way - uh, so to speak.

Actually, the word used in the cartoon was a verb, not a noun.
Oh, and by the way, I'm "locally educated." Are you more amazed that I know fundamental grammar, or that you don't?

...Or, you could say something unkind about the education available in California.
This is what gives mainland people a bad name.
I wouldn't be surprised if the word, "aloha" burned his fingers as soon as he typed it.

Congratulations to Mike Nelson for winning the disproportionally angry letter of the day award. I'm sure the cartoon brought back all of the harsh memories of the racial bigotry for your Welsh heritage that you have encountered in your life.

Sorry to hear you're feeling upset. Hope You Get Welsh Soon!
By the way, did Jack Welsh?

I agree but still, Bush has been a disaster. He slept during 9-11. If only he had stopped the attack we would not be in the mess we are in today.

WTF- We all were sleeping before 9/11 !!
Bush is one man, he had help from Clinton whose liberal agenda made it a no-no to go after those guys in the first place. The President is only one man, he cannot tax you, or lower your taxes, or send you to war without the approval of the legislative branch.

9-11 could have been prevented better if the US were a police state, and that is something nobody, cept maybe the neo-cons, wants.
Bush is a disaster from many perspectives: his foreign relations is atrocious, his domestic policies all flopped with the exception of faith-based initiatives (which I hope will be found unconstitutional), and Mediare Part D, and his trade agenda is collapsing.
But even I don't blame him for letting 9-11 happen, just what came after.
I also don't think Clinton's attempt to kill him with cruise missles should be dismissed. It was an attempt, and the majority of us couldn't portend that years later 9-11 would have happened.
And what if we move further back in time? bin Laden's entire justification was because of US bases in Saudi, thanks to GHW Bush, who I thought was a decent president.
And that came to a head because of Iraq's status as a bulwark against Iran.
And Iran became radiclized because Eisenhower overthrew Mossadegh and installed Raiza.
And on and on.
So yeah, lots of blame to go around.
