My experiences with Denton PD has been nothing but good.
I was driving my brother's old car and the gas guage didn't work. I ran it plumb out and died on IH35 southbound at Teasley. Very nice young man gave me a ride home. It was about 1am and I had just gotten off work.
My eldest child decided to do the "run away from home" thing. The officers helped me find her very quickly. God bless each of them for their efforts.
My precious father had a bad fall. Denton PD arrived before the paramedics. They were a God send. They kept him still and calm until the ER crew showed. I think they saved his life because it turned out that my father had broken his neck in two places. God bless each of them for their efforts and knowledge.
I got a ticket this past spring - going 45 in a 30. First ticket I received in nearly 30 years. I earned it, took defensive driving, and now pay better attention to my driving. My fault, not the officer's.
I sure hate to see a few dolts bashing on our P.D. They're good people and we need them out there doing their jobs.
You may have had wonderful experiences with them, but you are one of the few. It doesn't make everyone else bad who says something negative about the department when they had bad experiences.

The whole Denton County Justice system has a case of fubar. I was charged by my ex-girlfriend for assault when she clearly was the aggressor. I even have proof from her myspace account from her bragging about how hard she hit me. Even with this evidence and the fact that she's on antipsychotics for bipolar disorder, they're trying to prosecute me for allegedly beating her up. The assistant DA had the nerve to offer me a plea bargain after I spent over 30 hours in a Denton holding cell. It was time I had to spend as a formality for answering to a summons and then finding out that I had an open arrest warrant. It doesn't make sense to get arrested for showing up to court. My lawyer read the police report and it states that there wasn't a single mark on her after I had to subdue her. She called the cops over an hour after I left and then said in the police report that we had a fight over my "drinking problem". She has an issue with projecting her problems on other people. The only times we would argue was when she got drunk. I don't know what I saw in her, but it was like the mysterious case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She was a completely different person sober.

I can't even get certain jobs while I wait for my case to be settled. I'm thinking about suing her for civil damages. After all, I wouldn't have left my high paying job if she hadn't badgered me into moving back to Texas with her. It only lasted a few months because she would get drunk every weekend. She often bragged that she had the law on her side because she went to some kind of police camp in Denton and supposedly knew many of the highway patrol. I sometimes wonder just how well she knew those cops and whether or not she did any special favors for them.

I need to get out of these backwards ass places and move back to the Bay Area. San Francisco was my favorite place to live. Not as many ignorant people there. It's definitely not a microcosm of the United States.

If I could help it, I'd never set foot in Denton again, but I have to go back to court and get my case dismissed. It's probably going to drag out for awhile, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be the victor. The DA in Denton is a moron. I agree that they should pick up charges for family violence and try to pursue them, but when it's obvious that the alleged criminal is actually the victim, they should learn to swallow their pride.

I live in San Francisco now. I used to live in Denton County. However, the opposite is true here...the police don't really even do their job, whereas in Texas they overdo it. And the people here are not entirely too friendly.

Anyway, all you can do is work with your lawyer and hope he can do something for you. I got in a physical altercation with an ex boyfriend 4 years ago. He came up to me at school my senior year and punched me in the arm and spit in my face. I hit him back and shoved him. I told the police that, but I was defending myself and there were marks on me, not him, not to mention there were many witnesses, including teachers. Even if I had left anything on him, I still wouldn't have been in any trouble. He got arrested but nothing was pursued.

Are you sure you left no marks on her? The great thing is, everyone is entitled to their day in court to prove their case.

I got a speeding ticket tonight. My first one ever. He said I was going 47 in a 35. I had just turned out of the gas station. I don't know how I could have been going that fast. He asked me what my hurry was. I said I wasn't in a hurry at all. I asked for a warning. No luck. He had no sympathy at all. Didn't care that I have medical bills to pay, etc. etc. He wasn't going to drop the ticket or even take it down a few mph. Makes me sick. I was nothing put polite to him.

This ticket is going to cost Denton more than it does me. I'm not going up there to shop or eat at restaurants anymore.

It's really lame to get a ticket like this. Give me something I deserve like going 90 on I-35 or something.

One more thing. I should have been a pain in the butt and asked for another officer to come. I was a woman alone in a car. I shouldn't have rolled down my window at all until someone else came on the scene. Boy am I stupid.

Most of the time the police officers do not show up in court, when you contest it. When it is a minor traffic charge. The police officer did not show up at court. This has happened twice with me.

Okay, yes, its obvious the Denton Police do not make the smartest of decisions. Here are some perfect examples. If any of you have had bad experiences please post. I had asked someone to leave my home during a conflict and they had refused and began to assault me. I was in my home and I felt the right to defend myself. When the police arrived they tried to arrest me. Keep in mind I had a witness. They refused to talk to the witness and they said they felt it was no neccessary to defend myself in my home. I'm sorry, what? So what they are telling me is that if someone breaks in my home or I ask someone to leave I must take the abuse they bring upon me. Also, I was pulled over for "speeding" by a Denton Police officer. I have seizures under stressful conditions and when I am exhausted. I went into a seizure. When I woke up I was very tired. The officer said he found it convenient that I had a seizure when he pulled me over. I myself don't find seizures convenient. I'm not sure anybody does. He accused me of being on drugs. Seizure sir, not cocaine. The paramedics were called out looked me over took my blood sugar (they did not take my blood pressure) and said I was fine. After they left one of the officers told me to move my car a few exits up. I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DRIVING AFTER A SEIZURE! I was forced to drive to the next exit where I passed out again. It's a good thing I wasn't driving when it happened again. I'd be a rich lady.

By far... I am not impressed about Denton PD, lately they've been using unmarked patrol cars on I-35E, they park them ON THE LEFT SHOULDER, without any lights on. Now... correct me if I am wrong, but... in the middle of the night they could easily be struck by another vehicle, I just cannot believe what this imbeciles do in order to write out a speeding citation, I'd agree if they do this type of operation during daylight hours when they're clearly visible, at night it's a different story, this are clearly police officers with very little common sense, plain stupid or flat out they've got a death wish.
Here is the facts about this comment:
It does not matter what time of day it is or what side of the street they are on. It is dangerous! It does not matter what side of the road they are on, you should not be swerve to the left or the right of your lane. If you swerve to the left you are going to hit the concrete wall. These officers are out there to protect all of us from any dangerous people driving on the road. And it does not matter if it is a marked car or unmarked car. At night you can't see them till you are up on top of them anyway. You are just upset because you can't see them and are probably driving too fast and do not look on the left for cops. Get over it.

Denton County is all about money. Period. They want the whole county to be on probation so they have monthly fees out the wazoo coming into their coffers.

Some of you have no idea how good you have it in Denton with your police department. My guess is that you will be more than happy to put up with them when you or someone you love are in grave danger.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Virgo

Be careful you don't wind up doing someone else's work today, Virgo. There are all sorts of little tricks to persuade you to take pity on them, from pretending to be ill to making such a hash of everything that you can't bear to watch for a moment longer. Then you are likely to be asked to put in some overtime, at the expense of your social life. Grr.
