"kandee" Justin's little cousin. She doesnt understand what happened to her cousin because she is to young. Justin loved Kandee he loved everybody he was not a hateful person. Brown is trying to say that the dog {Precious} was a bad dog. Well i have pictures of Kandee who is 5 years old and hearing impaired with Precious. One she is sleeping on her and the other she riding her like a horse. If she is so bad then why didnt she hurt or kill Kandee???? Brown, i cant say is a stupid person because he knows all the right people down there and new he could get away with doing it. He probably told the police what he was about to do. Yall arent investigating anything yall are trying to cover it up and make it go away. WELL GUESS WHAT YALL WOULD HAVE TO KILL JUSTINS WHOLE FAMILY TO MAKE US GO AWAY

DA gets evidence in trailer park killing
By DAVID BALL Reporter

Justin Slider, 19, died when his landlord shot him during an argument over a dog.

SILSBEE The Hardin County Sheriff's

Department has completed their investigation into the March 11 shooting death of a 19-year-old at a Silsbee trailer park, and all evidence was turned over to District Attorney Henry Coe III on Monday morning.

The shooting took place at Bubba's Trailer Park on Village Creek Road after an argument ensued between trailer park owner Lonnie Brown, 65, and his tenant Justin Slider, of Texarkana, over a pit bull dog. During a physical altercation, Brown shot Slider in the head and in the chest.

Brown's attorney, R.F. "Bo" Horka, said what fueled the argument was when Brown's step-grandson was chased by one of Slider's pit bulls while driving around the trailer park in a golf cart. Brown, who has a federal firearm license that allows him to carry a concealed handgun, went to Slider's residence in reference to the dog.

By the time Brown had approached Slider's trailer, the tenant had captured his dog and chained it to a telephone pole some 50 feet away from the residence. However, another pit bull chained underneath the trailer bit Brown twice, Horka said. After the dog lunged at Brown again, Brown shot the dog.

Horka said Slider's girlfriend first came outside the residence and struggled with Brown over the firearm. When Slider came outside, a fight ensued between the two men, ending when Brown shot Slider twice. Brown also shot himself in the hand and was taken to the hospital. He was released two days later.

"He may lose the use of his thumb. He blew off half of his palm and lost part of his thumb," Horka said. "He also had knots and abrasions (on his head and body) from the fight."

Horka described the shooting as neither accidental or intentional, but as instinctual.

"(Brown) was trying to get (Slider) off to survive and use every means at his disposal," Horka said. "Lonnie didn't want to lose his gun and have it used on him."

Horka explained that Brown routinely carries a .357 snub-nosed pistol for his own safety because of some "unsavory characters" in the trailer park.

"He doesn't have a reputation of threatening, but he doesn't want anyone to knock him on the head and steal his rent money," Horka said.

Brown gave a statement to authorities on Thursday, March 16, and the DA is currently awaiting toxicology and autopsy reports while reviewing the evidence. Coe will have the option of either issuing a warrant for Brown's arrest, or taking the case before the grand jury.

"(Brown) feels horrible for the young man and that the dog got killed," Horka said.

Slider's father, Clint, said he is still not sure what happened to his son.

"I just believe that Justin got shot over a dog," said the victim's dad. "He went to Lumberton with his girlfriend to do construction work (as a bricklayer and a carpenter). I just want to focus on Justin and let the police handle it."

But Slider's uncle, James Simpson, questions why Brown hasn't already been arrested by law enforcement.

"Maybe one shot could be accidental or selfdefense, but the dumbest person in the world would know that a gut shot would take him out," Simpson said."He went to the trailer with the gun intentionally with a lot of anger."

Simpson also argues that his nephew only weighed 145 pounds and that Brown was much larger and could have warded off an attack from Slider.

"Brown shouldn't have let them have the dogs there if he didn't want them," Simpson said. "He had no right to shoot the dog. That's animal cruelty. He could've called the law or animal control."

Simpson said the family has contacted the Texas Rangers and the U.S. Attorney General's Office to investigate the shooting.

Slider's funeral service was on Wednesday, March 15 in Texarkana.

My name is Atchley Slider, I am Justin Slider's older sister and I had to come home from Iraq to find out that my brother had been murdered. I actually got back in the states on the afternoon of 11 March and had to find out what had happened. The only thing that held me together while I was over there was the love and support of my family and now I have to deal with the loss of my baby brother. There are many questions as to why Brown hasn't been arrested yet, I know that when someone is killed they are always arrested and placed in jail I just don't understand why the system still allows this man to live a normal life when he has taken another. I have heard many different reasons why he hasn't been placed in jail but I will not rest until justice has been served and I can see this man placed in hand cuffs and thrown in jail. I have learned from my job as a MP of the Air Force that the system takes time, I would just like to know how much time it takes to get evidence that is right in front of you.
