... Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
John 3:5 Water as in water baptism, Spirit is Holy Ghost. |
||||
There is no division here, sir. It is apparent that many are all at different levels in our spiritual journey. I simply don't understand why in this day we all would not want to be full of the Holy Ghost, as Christ was. One may receive Christ, but has Christ received you? How is one born into the family of Christ? If I simply profess that I am a bonafide member of your family (Jenkins, I presume) does not profession or any familial claim I may have legitimate and/or recognized by the law of the land. It is only legitimate if: I was born naturally into the family or legally adopted by a family member. As it is in the natural, so is it in the spiritual. We are talking about NT Christians (after the resurrection of Jesus Christ) and present truths as revealed to the body of Christ Act 19:1 ¶ And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Act 19:5 When they heard [this], they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid [his] hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. Act 19:7 And all the men were about twelve. Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Jhn 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. |

I'm sorry, but there are just too many accounts of people being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the Holy Ghost (or Holy Spirit) in the book of Acts. There are too many people around the world who have experienced the baptism of the Holy Ghost. No one is "bikkering" here. Just stating our beliefs and experiences. Trying to encourage and exhort believers and non-believers alike. You may choose to accepted a watered down version of your religiosity, but I prefer the meat, even the strong meat of the word of God. Hbr 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. Hbr 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age,[even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. May God further open your understanding to the abundant riches and and present truths of His glorious word |

Amen! That's what written in my bible! |

According to the Bible you must be born again. Every man is born of water when he comes into the world. It is the spirtual birth that is needed for heaven.
Jesus never spoke in tongues, John the Baptist was the greatest prophet of all, he never spoke in tongues. Paul stated that he would rather speak 5 words people could understand then to speak 10000 in unknown tongues. Jesus made it plain in Luke 7:50 we are saved by faith.(Nothing else will save you.) When a person places faith in Christ, they have the Holy Ghost.(Romans 8) |
||||
|
In Acts 19:1-7, the disciples had not heard about the Holy Ghost. These scriptures address what you said about John the Baptist, too. When they found out about Jesus, they were re-baptized and were filled with the Holy Ghost (with speaking in tongues as the evidence they received it). Once you have heard there is a Holy Ghost, it is up to you to ask God for it. God doesn't favor some Christians over others. The Holy Ghost is for EVERYONE who believes.

I disagree. Jesus did speak in an unknown tongue: Mar 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? The 2nd birth is water baptism in Jesus' name and being filled with the Holy Ghost as evidenced by speaking in an unknown language (to the speaker). I believe several posters have already stated this. Jhn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jhn 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jhn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. And way too many accounts in the Book Of Acts of people being baptized in Jesus' name AND filled with the Holy Ghost (as the Spirit gave them utterance). And still going on today ... Jhn 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. |
||||
Again, I disagree. Jesus is the greatest prophet: Mat 21:11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. Then Moses: Deu 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face Act 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. 1Cr 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; (the sea representing water baptism and the cloud representing the spiritual baptism or Holy Ghost - for those who came out of Egypt) And you have left out othe key verses to Paul's subject throughout 1 Corinthians 14 1Cr 14:14 For if I pray in an [unknown] tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 1Cr 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 1Cr 14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: 1Cr 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying [serveth] not for them that believe not, but for them which believe. |

Well if you disagree that is fine but Jesus said
Luke 7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist |
||||
|
It is amzing that people take the Bible and use it out of such strong context. To say that you do not believe what Jesus said is very strong language.

It is amazing to me that people cannot grasp the simplicity of speaking in other tongues. It is nothing to fear. And please do not misconstrue my words. It is obvious that we are at different levels in our spiritual understanding. It is also obvious that you are unable to digest the meat of the word of God, even the strong meat. |
||||
Amen! I cannot even imagine a spiritual life without the Holy Ghost! How can one be Spirit filled if one does not have the Holy Spirit residing in one? To me, that is living beneath one's privilege. Having the Holy Ghost takes this journey to a whole nother level! |

Question: "What does it mean to accept Jesus as your personal Savior?"
Answer: Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? To properly understand this question, you must first understand the terms “Jesus Christ,”“personal,” and “Savior.” Who is Jesus Christ? Many people will acknowledge Jesus Christ as a good man, a great teacher, or even a prophet of God. These things are definitely true of Jesus, but they do not fully define who He truly is. The Bible tells us that Jesus is God in the flesh, God in human form (see John 1:1, 14). God came to earth to teach us, heal us, correct us, forgive us—and die for us! Jesus Christ is God, the Creator, the sovereign Lord. Have you accepted this Jesus? What is a Savior, and why do we need a Savior? The Bible tells us that we have all sinned; we have all committed evil acts (Romans 3:10-18). As a result of our sin, we deserve God's anger and judgment. The only just punishment for sins committed against an infinite and eternal God is an infinite punishment (Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:11-15). That is why we need a Savior! Jesus Christ came to earth and died in our place. Jesus' death was an infinite payment for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins (Romans 5:8). Jesus paid the price so that we would not have to. Jesus' resurrection from the dead proved that His death was sufficient to pay the penalty for our sins. That is why Jesus is the one and only Savior (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)! Are you trusting in Jesus as your Savior? Is Jesus your “personal” Savior? Many people view Christianity as attending church, performing rituals, and/or not committing certain sins. That is not Christianity. True Christianity is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Accepting Jesus as your personal Savior means placing your own personal faith and trust in Him. No one is saved by the faith of others. No one is forgiven by doing certain deeds. The only way to be saved is to personally accept Jesus as your Savior, trusting in His death as the payment for your sins and His resurrection as your guarantee of eternal life (John 3:16). Is Jesus personally your Savior? If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, say the following words to God. Remember, saying this prayer or any other prayer will not save you. Only believing in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross for you can save you from sin. This prayer is simply a way to express to God your faith in Him and thank Him for providing for your salvation.“God, I know that I have sinned against You and deserve punishment. But I believe Jesus Christ took the punishment I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. I receive Your offer of forgiveness and place my trust in You for salvation. I accept Jesus as my personal Savior! Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness—the gift of eternal life! Amen!” |

>>White House to not do Christmas this year...
>> >> Thought you might be interested in this information from the White House.. This isn't a rumor; this is a fact. >> >> A very talented artist for several years has painted ornaments to be hung on the various White House Christmas trees. The WH sends out an invitation to send an ornament and informs the artists of the theme for the year. She got her letter from the WH recently. It said that they would not be called Christmas trees this year. They will be called Holiday trees. And, to please not send any ornaments painted with a religious theme. She was very upset at this development and sent back a reply telling them that she painted the ornaments for Christmas trees and would not be sending any for display that left Christ out of Christmas. >> >> Just thought you should know what the new residents in the WH plan for the future of America . If you missed his statement that "we do not consider ourselves a Christian Nation" this should confirm that he plans to take us away from our religious foundation as quickly as possible. >> >> Just another step toward turning America away from Christianity! >> We should shout to the highest hills that the White House is ours - not the Obama's, and 85% of Americans believe in Christ (Christmas). |
