The reason you are having trouble, my friend, is that it is not true! You will never find anything in the Scriptures that you are forgiven of past and future sins. This was a false doctrine created by the Protestants to propagate "once saved, always saved". To be forgiven for a sin not yet committed is nothing short of Catholic "indulgence". There is hardly a difference between Catholics and Protestants in this area. Romans 3:25, "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" It is clear to the Apostle Paul that we are forgiven of PAST sins. He neglected to mention FUTURE sins, but, then, Paul had never heard "once saved, always saved." HarrisDon@aol.com www.ThinkRedInk.com

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

I just did a Google search on this very topic, as a Protestant friend of mine said she believes once you accept Christ, your sins are forgiven, past, present and future. As an Orthodox Christian, we understand sin to be something we are constantly struggling with since our free choice and free will is always at work, but Christ in us gives us the strength to "hold fast to what is good", as John writes in the Gospel. We pray for the forgiveness for and protection of sins, not once, but always. It's in the Lord's prayer: "Forgive me for my sins" and Jesus said to the woman they were to stone for prostitution - Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more. The Protestants would benefit by looking back at the source of scriptural interpretation and on who's authority we believe what is true.

We sin everyday in some kind of way, the Word says we must carry are Cross daily.
Lu 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. We ask forgiviness everyday, but we also need to repent,( repent means to stop doing the things we did wrong.) |

Hebrews 10:12-14 (Amplified Bible)
12Whereas this One [Christ], after He had offered a single sacrifice for our sins [that shall avail] for all time, sat down at the right hand of God 13Then to wait until His enemies should be made a stool beneath His feet.(A) 14For by a single offering He has forever completely cleansed and perfected those who are consecrated and made holy. |

1Jo 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: I am not an advocate of the "once saved always saved" theory - the fact that people can lose their salvation is very real Hbr 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him]; |

We are all born in sin - as the hymn goes - "what can wash away our sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again, nothing but the blood of Jesus."
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection: Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. Rom 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Rom 6:9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. Rom 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God. Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Rom 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness. Rom 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. Rom 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things [is] death. Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. |

It is true we have been forgiven, but that does not mean we should live in sin.We must live the holy life God had already purchase for us through the cross.Everything has already been done, meaning sins have already been forgiven.But to experience forgiveness which is what matters to God, you must connect to the finished work on the cross daily.confessing your sins daily and receiving forgiveness is tapping into the already ordained forgiveness.If not you disconnect yourself and you will remain in guilt and condemnation.As well as all other things God has already given us we must connect ourselves daily to get it.eph 1;19, eph 1;3-5

Our sins (a result of not believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ in tha area we did sin)are forgiven when we believe once and for all because our high priest did it once and for all (Heb. 10:10-12). But it is necessary to repent (believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ in tha area we did sin). Repent is not confessing your sins it is turning from carnal or worldly thinking to Heavenly (finished work of Jesus Christ) thinking.

The only sin we need to worry about is the mortal sin of not knowing, firsthand and personally, who Jesus Christ is and believing in him accordingly (John 8: 21-28; 19: 30-37). Who has any objection against "life-giving water", i.e., the Holy Spirit, pouring out from his/her heart for life-long convicting and cleansing of any other sins (John 7: 37-39)?. |

|
there is one sin that sends us to hell according to Jesus.
" He that believth not is condemed ." |
||||
|
If you read the bible in Hebrews 10:17 God says our sins and lawless deeds he will remember no more - so every sin that we have committed or will commit has already been punished in the body of Jesus at the cross. Each time we fall into sin, God wants us to remember the cross and say, "Lord Jesus, You were sentenced for this sin I committed. You bore the judgement and were condemned for this sin so God will not condemn me for it. As believers in Christ we should always have the assurance that because of God's rich grace and mercy He will remember our sins and lawless deeds NO MORE!
