Many of these misinformed comments show why Aloha is becoming just a word for tourist brochures. Yes, these owners all pay the required fees and taxes. In addition, most pay over $1000 per month in property taxes. The regulation in question is illogical and unenforceable, does nothing to protect the conservation zone and that is why it has never been enforced. If you are talking about protecting communities, enforce the new county law regulating vacation rentals on Kauai.

Islander, you full of BS! Brah, why donât you get real. All of these properties are 2nd homes. As the article said, the majority of owners donât even live on Kauai. These owners are breaking the law! The State and DLNR are not going to be intimidated or back down to these elitist. The illegal vacation rental owners are wasting our tax money and we should all condemn them for their arrogant and greedy behavior.
