The KLC has never been able to cover operating costs from launch revenues (the last launch was in 2008). Alaska Aerospace has depended on federal and state handouts since 1995; now the Legislature has bailed them out with 4 million dollars. Time for this rusting, unused facility which sits on an earthquake fault to pay its own way or be closed down.

I'd much rather see gov. funds go to space development than some of the other stuff money is getting wasted on. Space industry is a lot like defense in that is is critical and expensive. The government needs to spend money on development in that area. 4 million sure sounds like a lot when I think about winning the lottery but when it comes to the billions given to bankers who needed a bailout 4 million isn't too much. I'm sure you're beyond taking any advice but maybe you should work on choosing your battles. Or maybe your one of those who supports all the useless spending and is going to blame a little 4 million boost to space development for the deficit.

KRLIG opposes wasteful gov't spending - period. Whether it's billions to bankers or millions to an unused facility (no launches since 2008), it's corporate welfare and improper use of your taxes. Alaska Aerospace has depended on federal and state handouts since 1995 - it's time to cut cord - either pay your way or close it down.
