Are the big digs and and scrapes going to stay in the new pavement?

Won't rain get it there and make it worst? The groves are everywhere.

I can't believe that this would be an acceptable job.

I don't like the groves either, but it is so much nicer than it was. I just wish the county would take notice, and do the same for some of the county roads!

Its crap work, just like on West 25-70 Last winter, water froze in those ripples and busted the pavement.

County "take notice" of what? You compared apples to oranges.Thats a state road, being paved with high priced equipment that we cant afford. The county does a great job with what they have.If your road isnt paved, hang around and wait your turn. We waited 43 years.Forget any new equipment now, with the school budget woes. The "County" is doing a great job.

It is much better than the NO work the county road crew does on our county roads. Maybe it would be better to be thankful that the state did SOMETHING and send the bitching and complaining to the worthless a-holes on the county road crews!

Keep telling yourself that load of crap, but you are the only one who believes it! The county does a horrible job! They keep giving back 3 to 4 hundred thousand dollars that they don't even attempt to use, but that lot is full of worthless bumbs getting paid at 6:00 every morning. The school budget "woes" is a recent issue and has nothing to do with the fact that they haven't done anything to the roads in the last 30 years! Even with the school budget "woes", they were given money that they turned back in!!!

Where has/is the county paved/paving? BTW your words quote Charlie Tipton excuse every year since he has had that job. Taxpayers just want to hear the truth and not the same old BS every year after year. Everyone knows it slider.

Keep on wishing and dreaming like the rest of us has for many years. We were promised this year roads in our area were to be paved this year. The potholes are getting bigger every week.

Theyve been paving roads.....in case you havent noticed.Sure, youre upset and you will be until the road you want paved is paved.Charlie could spend all the money and there'd be folks upset about how it was spent. He turns some back in and people are still unhappy. The school budget woes are indeed a recent event but remember..we have new schools and sketchy operating estimates. The County has paved many roads since Charlie took over.Which ones, you ask?I think you can tell by looking.Sorry it isnt the ones you wanted. In all fairness,Ive said before, there are roads and massive potholes that need attention.Everyone, including myself seems to be an expert.

25/70 didn't really need paving. The bridge at Koontz creek needed attention badly for the last couple of years. Our STATE governed TDOT decided to wait until someone got hurt or bitched enough to get it fixed. Then they overdid it as usual, wasting tax dollars in the mix. But I am glad to see it. As far as the job they did, it was better after th second coat as I did notice the drag lines in the first and had concerns of my own abou water getting in and freezing this winter. I have not made a final judgement as I didn't go out today. I don't even know if they are done with that section.
Sorry it isn't the ones we want, isn't much consellation, Slider. People are mad and Charlie is the Name on the Supers office. And turning the money back in don't impress me much. I heard him say if we got him more money he could "get it done". And it ain't done and the money wasn't spent. I like Charlie, but he refuses to contract it out and it ain't getting done. His job is protected by qualification requirements and no one can or will run against him and that is bullshit. And yet we gave him more money and it ain't getting done. He did or will turn money back in agin this year, it ain't getting done. How many new employees did he hire last year ? We get to furnish all these employees insurance and vacation and a payday and it ain't getting done. I have been to the meetings and the commissioners are not the least bit concerned, it's just a good ol boy meeting where the sit and laugh and make excuses about why it ain't getting done. They have NO intention of getting it done and they don't give a rats ass about it. Charlies job is secure for a while, nobody ran against him last time either, so I reckon the majority of people are tickled pink about driving on PIG PATHS. I guess it's just me.
Just like the damn schools, It was just me who was against them, and it's just me who worries about the tax increases coming and it's just me that is aggravated about a bunch of idiots that built a school we didn't need and built it in a retarded location that will require millions more to improve the roads. And the same retards left out the furniture, computers for elementary kids, bleachers for the gym and playground equipment. And it's not even open yet, wonder what the actual operating costs will be ? Oh, wait they are building another one too !
If you weren't on the farm and I weren't on the lake, we might have different attitudes about taxes and roads. But it is what it is, and MY ROADS AND TAXES SUCK ! And I supported Charlie and the additional money he got and he didn't use it ! He didn't use it on MY road or ANY other road because he turned it and MORE back in. I don't have to look to tell that, it is public knowledge.
And just like the schools, there is NOT A DAMN THING I CAN DO ABOUT IT ! But Bitch....and bitch and bitch, it's all I get for my tax dollar and vote. But perhaps I will write in SLIDER for road superintendant when I vote. Yes I know he can't lose but if enough people write in SLIDER, perhaps he will get the message. I just changed my post name to WRITE IN SLIDER !
Not mad at you, but I'm mad.
And I'm NOT putting any money in the jar tonight !

Thats funny.Im thinking of switching gears and turning my attentions toward the litter problems in this county.Im thinking,"Litter Czar".Id have fines for different littering offenses that could generate well needed revenue.Fast food trash and lotto ticket Litterbugs would be aggressively pursued.Course,Id need a badge and a alternatively fueled County vehicle, along with a camera.Might be a little less stressful than defending good ole Charlie and the pothole patrol.

Charlie may be running unapposed this year but I know at least 60 voters who are talking about writing in Bugs Bunny for road super postion. We the people are tired of hearing lies year after year. If you know anyone who would like their name as a write for Charlies position please post it.

25/70 was a fine road and a waste of money. Slider you need to get out and see the county road pig paths, there are several. If I knew how to post photos here I would show you how big the pot holes are, calling them does no good.

I think we can come up with something better but we have to pick something now because too many different names and they will be listed as "other". But I think if we can get 50 people to write in the same name, they will actually list it. Take that and the total number of votes cast, minus the amount of votes for Charlie and you have the number of people who didn't vote for him.
I'm thinking eat me, as it is my response to really, above, who has a stupid answer for everything. But that might be a little crass for most voters. And Bugs Bunny is easy to spell.
Charlies job is quite secure as you must qualify through Nashville, just to get on the ballot, if you want to really see a good ol boy network, that is one of the best I have run across. So I will stay on my computer and bitch, because while I can run for Mayor, State Rep, Senator, Governor, or Friggin President of the USA, I can not run for road superintendant ! Nor can any of you...
Now ain't that some shit !
But what ever you do, early voting is over this Friday, so just do it. Perhaps I will hire someone to hold a sign saying "Write in Bugs Bunny for Road Superintendant AND Tax Assessor too ! If your unhappy with the job they are doing."

Don't take it personal Slider, Charlie will win, and we will be on here bitching about him 4 years from now, although I gave him money for his re-election campain and hopefully our road will actually make it on the next year watch list. He is a really nice fellow, but I've tried the right way and the proffessional way and the suck up way and for ten years, yet I have not been able to get on the list. And I do realize just getting on the list, means nothing as there are roads that have been on the list for YEARS !
I know he is trying and limited as to his ability to work miracles with a few trucks and shovelfulls of asphalt, but I have gotten involved and did my part and it just ain't getting done. Cut my taxes in half and I will shut the hell up, but I'm paying way too much for my share of nothing. And yes, it has been over 40 years since they put a little tar and gravel on my 12 foot wide road. We will agree on the next one.

I know,I know...I was jokin. You got 40 more years on ya? Fraid them taxes are gonna go even higher and youll be dropping more money in the cussin jar.You could join me at the Deep Springs travel trailer park.Downsizing wont be that bad if it aint worth owning anything anymore. We could fish, eat BBQ and tell tall tales of yesteryears around the campfire or on the fancy redwood deck.LOL,I suspect we will keep plugging away at what we do.Keep on keeping on!

BBQ what ? I'll be in my 90s, eating baby or cat food. And I like the sound of downsizing and tall tale telling, but by my own choice, not Beeler's or the like's of him, stupid decisions.
And I didn't throw the jar out...

You got to be a politician expecting people to believe that. The county does a terrible job of trying to patch on top of patches for 40 years now. Get real pleaseeee and our good ole high school buddy Charlie turns in 100's of thousands of dollars each year because he will not let contractors in Jefferson county and you know it as we all do. We need someone who CAN DO and WILL DO the job. Jefferson county voters need to demand a vote to change that position to a hired county employee job who answers to county commission and county mayor, then someone who is qualified can be hired from where ever to do the job that has be needing done for 40 years. It will also take away who you know and who oyu are from the good ole boy system, don't you agree?

Charter will allow them to bring it to a vote where WE can hire (vote for) the school super and and recall people who ain't getting it done ! And change the requirements that keep intelligent people from running against Charlie. Nothing will ever change around here until we break the chains of 81.

Agreed, that is exactly what must be done. I will contact my commissioners. I was one of several who talked with commisssioners last year about getting more money to pave roads and it helped because we did get $351,000 put in a for road paving only budget that Charlie could not turn around and give back because he did not want to do his job. All he has to do is get 3 bids from contractors to pave the pothole pig paths but no he is against that.
