Just don't. Sure it's beautiful. There's no denying that. Which unfortunately is why people including myself ended up making the foolish mistake of moving to this hellhole. It may look like paradise on Earth with the redwoods, mountains, Smith River and Pacific Ocean. But trust me it isn't. Even if your a big outdoors person. Sure hiking in the redwoods, in the mountains, and along the coast, swing in the Smith River and all that is fun the first few times but after a million times even that gets old. Then you'll be bored to death as there is absolutely nothing else to do. Most people are rude. Restaurants are terrible. Crime is high and so is meth usage. In a way you kinda can't blame them for resorting to crime and drugs with how bored you'll get. Like I said if your a big outdoors person you'll have fun the first maybe even second summer your here though Winters are long and rainy. But by your second year here you'll get bored to death even in the summer after you've seen and done everything there is to do a million times and got tired of hiking as that's about all there is to do. Especially when you've hiked the trails a million times. So don't let the beauty of the area deceive you into thinking this is a great place to live. Is Crescent City a great place to visit? Definitely. Great place to live? Definitely not. Bottom line. Just stick to visiting the area a week or two a summer. Just trust me you don't want to live here. You may think you would because of how beautiful it is. But trust me you don't. If your a big outdoors person you may think you'd never get bored here. But trust me you will.

What are you 18 or in your 20's? Then I may understand your boredom. It is the same in any town. If you work from home there is no place in California that can compare. I love it here and have lived in several other places. Everywhere else will be roasting or freezing and we have great weather.

Crescent City has a beautiful coastline & fabulous redwoods, but the people that move here come because they canít afford to live in the town they moved from. Way to much poverty for me, homeless people are their norm. If you canít live on Pebble beach drive, all the other areas are scary!
I havenít been ripped off in over 40 years, but I got ripped off in Crescent City three (3) times over a 30+ day period. Canít wait to get back to So. Ca, at least down south I know what kind of people Iím dealing with.

Are there no benefits, stories, suspicions, imaginings regarding the secret base that is rumoured to be there? Who leaked?

Iíve lived here for 3 years as a property manager and I can say it all depends what part of town you live in. I have a property over in Old Mill Rd where my young family of tenants, one of which is a hard working young military veteran, are constantly being harassed by a racisit family. This is a Caucasian couple with a young baby. The same family who cause these issues, Debbie Steve Wettengale and kids have been kicked from neighborhoods before. The neighborhoods speak for themselves. If it looks like trash it is trash.

What about the compound for the secret base? those people must have families, though letting the families live here would make keeping the secret harder to keep harder. Some businesses report an uptick in some odd items ordered and delivered to the dunes area for night pick up...but what is it and how can we benefit from this stuff?
