A new summer festival is coming to the Outer Banks in the summer of 2009.

Experience OBX is a weekly Outer Banks festival that will bring locals, tourists, and businesses together for a wide variety of activities.

Admission to Experience OBX is free, and events will be held every Tuesday at the historic Roanoke Island Festival Park in Mantoe, NC from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The events will run from 10 am - 6 pm.

Experience OBX will offer educational seminars, shopping, entertainment, food, raffles, games to all Outer Banks enthusiasts…locals and tourists alike. It is a family friendly, fundraising festival designed to benefit the Outer Banks and its visitors.

G & W Events is currently extending an invitation to local non-profits to join the festival at no cost. For more information, please email contact@experienceobx.com.

Does anyone know who won this year's Rockfish Rodeo and how much the winning fish weighed?

Turner, you might get a better response if you just start a new thread, rather than dig up this ancient one.

Why don't these old moldy threads just go away like the jobs and economy here did. Oh, thanks ray for helping that happen.

What? No comments on Merlee retiring? OBX Voice will not take comments on her story or Heather's. Interesting.

Has anyone been to Jennettes Pier lately? My husband and I went this week an boy has it changed!!!!! Instead of the friendly service that use to be there with all the smiling faces,we walked into a crew of people with their heads buried in their smart phones. Then when we walked up to pay they acted like we were bothering them. The pier seems to be divided now, the smiling faces that use to greet us were over in the gift shop area, thank God they acted like they were happy we were there. Also while we were there, there was some young girl that acted like she should be in a day care instead of working there she was loud an acted very unprofessional. There was a few times that other customers actually stopped what they were doing an just looked her way she was so loud. I don't think we will be returning there any time in the near future.

The OBX Experience is not what it used to be in a lot of ways. People are struggling to make a living out there thanks to the high cost of EVERYTHING. Add in a miserable winter and prolonged cold air temperatures along the beaches when Spring is in bloom everywhere else and you get the kind of attitudes you came across. Not a good story and it doesn't look to have a happy ending.

If you are planning your Easter vacation destination you might want to look somewhere other then the Outer Banks of NC this year, all the way up to July or so for that matter. The water temps are in the low 40s and the result is that the Outer Banks continue to be the coldest part of NC despite nice temps and weather inland. The temperature differences are running about -30 degrees from inland NC/ southern NC beaches. Expect temps in the low to mid-50s on the Outer Banks when temps inland are in the 80s. Needless to say, even your children won't want to wade into 45 degree ocean water. I'm jus sayin'.....you won't get this truthful info from the Tourism Board!

Did you mention any of this to the management? Or did you just come here like a douche to whine about it...

Try posting this under it's own thread. I know that TOPIX is read by the Aquarium supervision in Raleigh. It'll be lost here
